The levels of maximum power density of GSM signals in the cities of Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja were studied. Measurements were made with a calibrated hand held spectrum analyzer 200m away from 271 base stations, at 1.2m to the ground level. The maximum GSM 900 signal power density was 139.63μW/m in Lagos, 162.49μW/m in Ibadan and 5411.26μW/m in Abuja. Also, the maximum GSM 1800 signal power densit...

background: whether exposure to common electromagnetic fields affects human health adversely has been a controversial issue. the main goal of this study was to assess the role of 900 mhz microwave radiations with different specific absorption rates (sars), emitted from some widely used cell phones, on the induction of adaptive response in male balb/c mice after receiving a lethal dose of gamma ...

Background: Over the past several years, the rapidly increasing use of mobile phones has raised global concerns about the biological effects of exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation. Numerous studies have shown that exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can be associated with effects on the nervous, endocrine, immune, cardiovascular, hematopoietic and ocular systems. In spite of genetic...

introduction : the fast-growing telecommunication and wireless technologies has led to more dependence to these communication devices and higher levels of exposure to electromagnetic radiations propagated by cellular devices and their service towers. to disable signaling in places where silence is valued or where information quarantine measures are required, mobile phone jammers emit radiofrequ...

The action of the pulse-modulated GSM radiofrequency of mobile phones has been suggested as a physical phenomenon that might have biological effects on the mammalian central nervous system. In the present study, GSM-exposed picrotoxin-pretreated rats showed differences in clinical and EEG signs, and in c-Fos expression in the brain, with respect to picrotoxin-treated rats exposed to an equivale...

Background: People who use home blood glucose monitors may use their mobile phones in the close vicinity of medical devices. This study is aimed at investigating the effect of the signal strength of 900 MHz GSM mobile phones on the accuracy of home blood glucose monitors. Methods: Sixty non-diabetic volunteer individuals aged 21 - 28 years participated in this study. Blood samples were analyzed ...

background: pre-exposure to radiofrequency radiations of mobile phones would significantly increase the survival rate of exposed animals compared to those exposed to a lethal dose of gamma radiation alone. stimulation of the immune system is believed to be a key mechanism for the induction of this phenomenon, the so-called “adaptive response.” the immune system protects organisms against infect...
