subluxation of the proximal interphalangeal joint (pipj or pastern joint) is an uncommon condition that occurs in the forelimb or hindlimb. thoroughbred racehorses rarely show dorsal pastern subluxation (thoroughbred ringbone) secondarily to an injury to the soft tissues supporting the fetlock. a 4-year-old thoroughbred mare was presented with signs of lameness, swelling of the dorsal aspect of...

Craniocervical junction abnormalities with atlantoaxial subluxation caused by ventral subluxation of C2 were diagnosed in a 6-month-old female Pomeranian with tetraplegia as a clinical sign. Lateral survey radiography of the neck with flexion revealed atlantoaxial subluxation with ventral subluxation of C2. Computed tomography revealed absence of dens and atlanto-occipital overlapping. Magnetic...

BACKGROUND The Hueter-Volkmann law describes growth principles around joints and joint deformation. It states that decreased stress leads to increased growth and that excessive stress leads to growth retardation. Aim of this study was to test the possible results of this principle by measuring the effect of dorsal humeral head subluxation on scapular growth in children with Obstetrical Brachial...

Bennett's fracture is the retention of bone to which beak ligament attached, and dorsoradial proximal subluxation base metacarpal detached from this part. Key features are intra-articular fracture, oblique pattern, volar-dorsal fragment. The medial small piece remains in place maintains its relationship with second finger via volar ligament.

UNLABELLED Dorsal rotatory subluxation of the navicular, a common sequela of resistant surgically treated clubfeet, presents a challenging treatment problem. This subluxation typically progresses after posteromedial release. Patients develop a cavovarus foot deformity and complain of pain, gait problems, and difficulty with shoe wear. Previous attempts at soft tissue release and reduction have ...

Background: The trapeziometacarpal joint (TMCJ) is inherently unstable, relying on ligament restraint to preventsubluxation. Subluxation of the thumb in a dorsoradial direction is often observed in clinical practice, either after acuteligament injury or more commonly with osteoarthritis (OA). This subluxation follows loss of function of trapeziometacarpalligaments that stabilise this joint, res...

PURPOSE To document the occurrence of isolated dorsal subluxation of posterior elements in cases of lumbar spondylolysis without spondylolisthesis both quantitatively (using spinal canal measurements) and qualitatively (by visual inspection) on sagittal MR images. METHODS Retrospective analysis identified 63 patients with lumbar spondylolysis (confirmed by CT or conventional radiography) who ...

Dorsiflexion, palmar flexion, ulnar translocation, and dorsal carpal subluxation are four, not uncommon, post-traumatic carpal ligamentous instabilities. Palmar carpal subluxation is a theoretical possibility. Dorsiflexion and palmar flexion instabilities are named for the way the distal lunate articular surface dorsally and palmarly, respectively. Ulnar translocation, and dorsal and ventral ca...

Over-zealous release of the first dorsal compartment of the wrist for de Quervain's disease or other lesions such as ganglia, may result in volar subluxation of the tendons of abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis. This is usually asymptomatic, but may occasionally become disabling. We describe an operation using part of the extensor retinaculum to stabilise such a subluxation.
