Five monoclonal antibodies against bacterial spores of Bacillus cereus T and Clostridium sporogenes PA3679 were developed. Two antibodies (B48 and B183) were selected for their reactivity with B. cereus T spores, two (C33 and C225) were selected for their reactivity with C. sporogenes spores, and one (D89) was selected for its reactivity with both B. cereus and C sporogenes spores. The isotypes...

How to compensate people who provide relevant information to a decision-maker who faces uncertainty? This paper suggests some compensation rules. These are studied both in a cooperative and a noncooperative environment. JEL codes: C71, C72, D89.

The nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and related Cys-loop receptors are ligand-gated ion channels that mediate fast synaptic transmission throughout the central and peripheral nervous system. A highly conserved aspartate residue (D89) that is near the agonist binding site but does not directly contact the ligand plays a critical part in receptor function. Here we probe the role of D89 using unn...

This article presents a formalization of knowledge based on a connectionist model of a firm’s structure. Transaction costs are not ignored, but integrated with the knowledge-based approach. A numerical example on the canonical comparison of ”Japanese” versus ”American” organizational structures illustrates the power of the model. JEL Classification: L20, L29, D89

Aspartate residues function as proton acceptors in catalysis and are involved in ionic interactions stabilizing subunit assembly. In an attempt to unravel the role of a conserved aspartate (D89) in sheep-liver tetrameric serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT), it was converted into aspargine by site-directed mutagenesis. The purified D89N mutant enzyme had a lower specific activity compared wit...

We illustrate, by means of two examples, why assuming the principals offer simple menus (i.e. collections of payoff-relevant alternatives) as opposed to more general mechanisms may preclude a complete characterization of the set of equilibrium outcomes in certain sequential contracting environments. We then discuss how refinements of the solution concept, or enrichments of the menus that allow ...

We consider the effects of risk preferences in mixed-strategy equilibria of 2 × 2 games, provided such equilibria exist. We identify sufficient conditions under which the expected payoff in the mixed equilibrium increases or decreases with the degree of risk aversion. We find that (at least moderate degrees of) risk aversion will frequently be beneficial in mixed equilibria. © 2007 Elsevier Inc...

We show that the so-called "post-Born" effects of weak lensing at 4th order are equivalent to lens-lens couplings in Born Approximation. demonstrate this by explicitly showing equivalence canonical approach using anisotropy remapping method, calculation coupling Boltzmann equation was first developed [Phys. Rev. D89, 123006]. Furthermore, we argue incorporate true effects, i.e. taking into acco...

In this paper we analyze a time series measuring the monthly flow of US tourists to Israel over the period 1997-2006. We pay particular attention to the response of tourists to variations in the intensity the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, drawing a distinction between actual conflict intensity and the intensity with which the conflict is reported in the US television media. We find that differe...

The literature on R&D contests implicitly assumes that contestants submit their innovation regardless of its value. This ignores a potential adverse selection problem. The present paper analyzes the procurement of innovations when the procurer cannot commit to never bargain with innovators who bypass the contest. We compare fixed-prize tournaments with and without entry fees, and optimal scorin...
