The present study evaluates the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) mediated by xerophytic plants, Cynanchum viminale and Cynanchum sarcomedium. The reaction between plant extracts and silver nitrate solution resulted in a yellowish brown/dark brown colored solution which suggests the formation of SNPs. Physical characteristics of synthesized SNPs were determined using...

In this study the anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic extract of Cynanchum acutum was evaluated. Cynanchum acutum has a large history of herbal use because of pharmaceutical characteristics and the medicinal values of the Cynanchum acutum have been mentioned in ancient literature as useful in disorders. The effects of ethanolic extracts of Cynanchum acutum were studied on carrageen an induc...
vacious plant distributed across all of Korea and also cultivated in China. The root of Cynanchum paniculatum is used as a Chinese traditional medicine. Recently, the plants of genus Cynanchum of Asclepiadaceae, e.g. Cynanchum atratum, Cynanchum auriculatum and Cynanchum paniculatum, were studied for their anticancer and analgesic effects. In addition, Cynanchum paniculatum has been traditional...
Cynanchum is a large genus with some important medicinal species in China. The medicinal species in Cynanchum are easily confused, leading to potential safety risks. In this study, the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) barcode was used to discriminate the medicinal plants in Cynanchum. The identifying capability of ITS2 was assessed using the specific genetic divergence, BLAST1, neighbor-joi...
DiTommaso, A., Lawlor, F. M. and Darbyshire, S. J. 2005. The Biology of Invasive Alien Plants in Canada. 2. Cynanchum rossicum (Kleopow) Borhidi [= Vincetoxicum rossicum (Kleopow) Barbar.] and Cynanchum louiseae (L.) Kartesz & Gandhi [= Vincetoxicum nigrum (L.) Moench]. Can. J. Plant Sci. 85: 243–263. Cynanchum rossicum (dog-strangling vine) and C. louiseae (black dog-strangling vine) are intro...
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the ethanol extract of Cynanchum wilfordii (ECW) on the blood lipid profile of hypercholesterolemic rats. Thirty 7-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were allowed free access to either a normal diet (AIN-93 diet), or 1% high-cholesterol diet with or without 0.5% or 1% ECW for 5 weeks. After sacrifice, the rat serum lipid profile was ana...
Menopausal hot flushes (HFs), which manifest as a transient increase in skin temperature, occur most frequently in postmenopausal women, and sometimes negatively influence daily life. We investigated the effect of an aqueous extract of Cynanchum wilfordii (CWW) in a rat model of menopausal HFs, where tail skin temperature (TST) is increased after the rapid estrogen decline induced by ovariectom...
Three new steroidal glycosides, named as stauntosides L, M, and N (1-3), along with one known C21 steroidal glycoside, anhydrohirundigenin monothevetoside (4), were isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of the roots of Cynanchum stauntonii. The structures of these new compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses, mainly 1D and 2D NMR, HRESI-MS, and chemical methods.
