Chorioangioma is a benign angioma of placenta arising from chorionic tissue. Large chorioangioma has unfavourable effects on both mother and fetus. We describe a case with large chorioangioma that had a poor outcome on the fetus. We also reviewed the literature on prognostic factors affecting fetal outcome.

Background. Pregnancy with concomitant chorioangioma and placental mesenchymal dysplasia (PMD) coexisting with a normal viable fetus is very rare. The literature was reviewed to explore the incidence and genetic origin of this condition. Case. The case was first identified by prenatal ultrasonography, but the prenatal diagnosis only included chorioangioma. PMD was then confirmed during postnata...

Placental chorioangioma constitutes major importance in perinatology practice, as being the most common type of placental tumors, and having the potential of devastating perinatal outcomes. In this review, we report the symptoms, diagnostic findings and recent temporary and definitive treatment choices in patients with chorioangioma.

We report a case of a giant placental chorioangioma (15.6 cm diameter) complicated by polyhydramnios and severe fetal heart failure. Fetoscopic laser occlusion of a dominant feeding vessel was performed at 29 weeks' gestation and partial devascularization was achieved. In the 33rd week of the pregnancy, the decision was made to preemptively deliver the fetus due to persistent signs of fetal car...

Chorioangioma is a relatively rare benign tumor of placenta arising from chorionic tissue, with incidence being 1 in 100 cases. Giant vascular chorioangiomas render a challenge to obstetricians with their potential critical complications adversely altering feto-maternal outcome. Diagnosis is suspected antenatally by ultrasound and Doppler studies, and is corroborated by histopathology post-deli...

Placental chorioangioma is a benign non-trophoblastic tumor of the placenta that can have various adverse effects on the mother and fetus depending on its size. Chorioamniotic membrane separation is rare condition of detachment between the amniotic membrane and chorionic membrane. Chorioamniotic membrane separation after the second trimester of pregnancy is usually occurs after invasive procedu...

Chorioangioma is a benign tumour of the placenta consisting of blood vessels and stroma that proliferates beyond normally developing chorionic villi. Most of the small tumours are asymptomatic but large placental tumours are associated with unfavourable outcomes for foetus and mother. We present a case of a 23 year old primigravida who had a large chorioangioma that lead to intrauterine foetal ...

Chorioangioma, the non trophoblastic tumour, constitutes the commonest benign growth of the placenta. Though benign, 30% rate of maternal or foetal complications are associated with large masses. Sonography including colour Doppler imaging provides the best modality not only for its diagnosis but also the foetal status. A case of large placental chorioangioma has been reported here resulting in...

BACKGROUND Chorioangiomas are the most common benign tumors of the placenta originating from primitive angioblastic tissues. It comprises near 1 percent of placental tumors. Clinical manifestations in the newborn are rare and usually associated with tumors greater than 5 cm in diameter and consist of polyhydramnios, fetal anemia, massive edema with pleural effusion, ascites and intrauterine gro...

Placental chorioangioma is the most common benign non-trophoblastic tumor of the placenta. It is derived from primitive chorionic mesenchyme and is typically vascular accounting for approximately 1 % of all pregnancy [1]. Chorioangioma is the most common histological type of placental tumor. An increased incidence rate of chorioangioma is associated with maternal age, hypertension, diabetes, fe...
