a ruptured sinus of valsalva aneurysm rarely accompanies the aortic and tricuspid valve endocarditis. a 36-year-old woman presented with low-threshold dyspnea on exertion and fever. transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography showed a ruptured noncoronary sinus of valsalva aneurysm with large vegetations on the tricuspid and aortic valves, resulting in moderately severe tricuspid regurgi...

Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.

an 80-year-old diabetic man with severe aortic stenosis was admitted to our hospital for cardiogenic shock complicating non-st-elevation myocardial infarction. echocardiographic evaluation showed also a severe degree of both left ventricular dysfunction and mitral regurgitation. the patient was initially stabilized with inotropes and mechanical ventilation was necessary because of concurrent pu...

To assess the accuracy of echocardiography in determining the cause of aortic regurgitation M mode and cross sectional echocardiography were compared with angiography in 43 patients with predominant aortic regurgitation. Each patient had all three investigations performed during the same admission to hospital. In each instance, the cause of aortic regurgitation was confirmed at surgery or necro...

A seven-year-old girl with clinical diagnosis of aortic insufficiency underwent echocardiographic and hemodynamic evaluation and referred for surgery with the same diagnosis. However, at surgery, aorto-Ieft ventricular tunnel was found and repaired successfully. Pulsed Doppler echocardiography was employed to detect disturbed or turbulent flow diagnostic of aortic or mitral regurgitation. Sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy, and predictive value were assessed by the independent interpretation and comparison of aortic root angiograms (91 patients) and left ventriculograms (94 patients) to the time interval histogram display of the pulsed Doppl...

quadricuspid aortic valve (qav) is an uncommon congenital anomaly which was an incidental finding during surgery or autopsy in the past. we present the case of a 44-year-old woman with moderately severe aortic regurgitation due to unequal cusp size qav diagnosed via transesophageal echocardiography. due to echocardiographic imaging improvement, the diagnosis of qav is now easier and earlier tha...
