we have performed a density functional theory investigation on the structural and electronic properties of pristine and nitrogen-doped tio2 anatase nanoparticles as the adsorbents for removal and degradation of hydrazine molecules in the environment. we have presented the most stable adsorption configurations and examined the interaction of hydrazine molecule with these doped and undoped nanopa...

TiO2 anatase nanowires have been prepared by a hydrothermal process followed by post-heat treatment in air. TiO2 nanoparticle/TiO2 nanowire composite electrodes were prepared for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) in order to improve light-to-electricity conversion efficiency. The TiO2 NP/TiO2 NW composite cells showed higher DSC performance than ordinary nanoparticle cells and fully nanowire cel...

The scarcity of low temperature syntheses of anatase nanocrystals prompted us to explore the use of surface-reactive fourth generation phosphorus-dendrimers as molds to control the nucleation and growth of titanium-oxo-species during the sol-gel mineralization process. Unexpectedly, the dendritic medium provides at low temperature, discrete anatase nanocrystals (4.8 to 5.2 nm in size), in marke...

Co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles containing 0.0085, 0.017, 0.0255, 0.034, and 0.085 mol % Co(III) ion dopant were synthesized via sol-gel and dip-coating techniques. The effects of metal ion doping on the transformation of anatase to the rutile phase have been investigated. Several analytical tools, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectros...

Integrated studies of CO on truncated bipyramidal TiO(2) anatase nanoparticles mainly exposing smooth (101) surfaces provide the missing link between TiO(2) single crystals and commercial TiO(2) nanopowders with complex morphology. The synergy among high resolution transmission electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy and modeling correlates adsorbed CO stretching frequency to anatase surface types...

The density functional theory (DFT) calculations were used to get information concerning the interaction of curcumin with pristine and N-doped TiO2 anatase nanoparticles. Three adsorption geometries of curcumin over the TiO2 anatase nanoparticles were studied in order to fully exploit the sensing properties of TiO2 nanoparticles. Curcumin molecule adsorbs on the fivefold coordinated titanium si...

Self-consistent tight binding molecular dynamics studies of TiO2 anatase and rutile nanoclusters in dissociable water are reported. It is found that the structure of the particle expands as a result of interaction between the particle’s surface and water. Water molecules dissociate at the nanoparticle surface during simulation. ! 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
