Acinetobacter pittii is an opportunistic pathogen frequently isolated from Acinetobacter infections other than those from Acinetobacter baumannii Multidrug resistance in A. pittii, including resistance to carbapenems, has been increasingly reported worldwide. Here, we report the 4.14-Mbp draft genome sequence of A. pittii IPK_TSA6.1 that was isolated from a nonhospital setting.

Acinetobacter pittii has emerged as an important hospital pathogen that is associated with outbreaks and drug resistance. In cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, the detection of Acinetobacter spp. is rare; however, we isolated the A. pittii sequence type ST643 in several Brazilian CF patients treated in the same centre. The current study describes the draft genome of A. pittii ST643.

BACKGROUND Acinetobacter species are associated with increasing mortality due to emerging drug-resistance. Pediatric Acinetobacter infections are largely undefined in developed countries and clinical laboratory identification methods do not reliably differentiate between members of the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii complex, leading to improper identification. Therefore we aimed to deter...

Worldwide increasing emergence of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. has rendered the limited availability of effective antimicrobial agents and has become a major public health concern. In this study, we report the draft genome sequence of A. pittii TCM156, a multidrug-resistant isolate that harbored the blaOXA-357 gene. The genome sequence was further analyzed by various bioinformatics m...

We report here the 3.84-Mb draft genome sequence of hydrocarbon-degrading Acinetobacter pittii strain ABC isolated from oil-contaminated soil in Guwahati, India. The genome sequence contains 3,602 coding sequences and a G+C content of 38.83%. This is the first report of the genome sequence of an Acinetobacter pittii from an oil-contaminated environment.

The development of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter species is of serious concern in the hospital settings and naturally occurring oxacillinase genes (blaOXA) have been identified in several Acinetobacter species. In this study, we report the genome sequence of A. pittii TCM178 belongs to ST950, a multidrug-resistant isolate that harbored the blaOXA-72 and blaOXA-533 genes simultaneous. The g...

An IMP-4-producing Acinetobacter pittii strain coproducing oxacillinases was isolated from a leg wound of a 67-year-old female patient. Identification to the species level by rpoB and gyrB sequencing and multiplex-PCR-based analysis revealed that the isolate was A. pittii. Whole-genome sequencing of this A. pittii isolate determined the presence of blaOXA-96, blaCARB-2, and a novel blaOXA-421 g...

Carbapenemase production has been reported worldwide in gram-negative bacteria, including Acinetobacter species. We detected carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter pittii in clinical isolates in Daejeon, Korea. Twenty-one ertapenem-resistant A. pittii isolates screened with a disk diffusion method were characterized by using the Epsilon test, four multiplex PCR assays, and a multilocus sequence ...

The draft genome sequences of the strains Acinetobacter baumannii 107m, Acinetobacter nosocomialis 28F, and Acinetobacter pittii 42F, isolated from Colombian hospitals, are reported here. These isolates are causative of nosocomial infections and are classified as multidrug resistant, as they showed resistance to four different antibiotic groups.

The genus Acinetobacter comprises 47 characterised genomic species, among which species belonging to the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus–Acinetobacter baumannii complex are the most clinically relevant. Within this complex, A. baumannii, Acinetobacter nosocomialis (formerly genomic species 13TU) and Acinetobacter pittii (formerly genomic species 3) are frequently associated with hospital-acquired i...
