The existence, stability properties, and bifurcation diagram of the nematic umbilical defects is studied. Close to the Fréedericksz transition of nematic liquid crystals with negative anisotropic dielectric constant and homeotropic anchoring, an anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau equation for the amplitude of the tilt of the director away from the vertical axis is derived by taking the three-dimension...
We derive the fractional generalization of the Ginzburg–Landau equation from the variational Euler–Lagrange equation for fractal media. To describe fractal media we use the fractional integrals considered as approximations of integrals on fractals. Some simple solutions of the Ginzburg–Landau equation for fractal media are considered and different forms of the fractional Ginzburg–Landau equatio...

Justification of the 2D NLS equation – Quadratic resonances do not matter in case of analytic initial conditions. Justification of the Nonlinear Schrödinger equation for the evolution of gravity driven 2D surface water waves in a canal of finite depth. approximation of time osc...
We study the limit state of the inhomogeneous Ginzburg-Landau model as the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ = 1/ →∞, and derive an equation to describe the limit state. We analyze the properties of solutions of the limit equation, and investigate the convergence of (local) minimizers of the Ginzburg-Landau energy with large κ. Our results verify the pinning effect of an inhomogeneous superconductor ...
In this paper we study an initial boundary value problem for a generalized complex Ginzburg–Landau equation with two spatial variables (2D). Applying the notion of the ε-regular map we show the unique existence of global solutions for initial data with low regularity and the existence of the global attractor.
