Yeast hexokinase is a homodimer consisting of two identical subunits. Yeast hexokinase was inactivated by 2-aminothiophenol at 25 degrees C (pH 9.1). A simple and novel method for the colorimetric detection of Co(2+) was developed based on controlling the oxidation level of methylene blue (MB). A series of heterocyclic acene diimides were synthesized effectively based on the condensation of o-phenylenediamine, 1,2-benzenedithiol, and 2-aminothiophenol with 2,3,6,7-tetrabromo-1,4,5,8-naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimide.
