The bovine MHC (BoLA) class II DRB3 alleles are associated with polyclonal expansion of lymphocytes caused by bovine leukemia virus (BLV) infection in cattle. To examine whether the DRB3*0902 allele, one of the resistance-associated alleles, is associated with the proviral load, we measured BLV proviral load of BLV-infected cattle and clarified their DRB3 alleles. Fifty-seven animals with DRB3*...

We have used the visible integral-field replicable unit spectrograph prototype (VIRUS-P), a new integral field spectrograph, to study the spatially and spectrally resolved Lyman-α emission line structure in the radio galaxy B2 0902+34 at z = 3.4. We observe a halo of Lyman-α emission with a velocity dispersion of ≈250 km s−1 extending to a radius of 50 kpc. A second feature is revealed in a spa...

We report a Chandra observation of the z = 3.395 radio galaxy B2 0902+343. The unresolved X-ray source is centred on the active nucleus. The spectrum is well fit by a flat power law of photon index of Γ ∼ 1.1 with intrinsic absorption of 8 × 10 22 cm −2 , and an intrinsic 2– 10 keV luminosity of 3.3 × 10 45 erg s −1. More complex models which allow for a steeper spectral index cause the column ...

We present 92 cm observations of the high-redshift galaxy B2 0902+343 (z=3.40) with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT). Twenty-one cm H i is detected in absorption, at a depth of 15.9 mJy (= 6σ) and rest frame velocity width 120 km s. We also report a null detection of OH emission or absorption at the 1665/1667 MHz rest-frame transitions. Based on our spectral sensitivity, we deriv...
