The aim of the study was to analyze the antimicrobial susceptibility of Austrian clinical Klebsiella sp. and Enterobacter sp. isolates linked to patient-related data over a time period from 1998 to 2014. The main findings of this study were (i) a marked difference of antibiotic susceptibility rates between different infection sites for both Klebsiella sp. and Enterobacter sp., (ii) significantl...

Results In 2010 were identified 269 pathogens in 409 NI. The distribution including all sites of infection was: Coagulase Negative Staphylococcus (CNS) 20,6%, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 15,9%, Staphylococcus aureus 15,9%, Candida sp 7,8%, Escherichia coli 7,8%, Klebsiella sp 7,8%, Enterococcus sp 5,7%, Enterobacter sp 5,4%, Acinetobacter baumanii 3,4% and other agents 9,7%. The Staphylococcus sp se...

Crop management systems influence plant productivity and nutrient use efficiency, as well as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), which are known to influence the growth of plants via phytohormone production, phosphate solubilization, nitrogen (N) fixation and antimicrobial activity. The objective of this study was to compare the influence of two crop management system on microbial PGPR...

Surfactant protein D (SP-D) plays important roles in the regulation of innate immune responses in the lung. We have previously shown that SP-D can agglutinate and enhance the macrophage-dependent killing of specific unencapsulated phase variants of Klebsiella pneumoniae. In the present studies, we used 16 clinical isolates of Klebsiella representing four O-serotypes and examined the interaction...

Pulmonary surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a collagenous C-type lectin (collectin) that is secreted into the alveoli and distal airways of the lung. We have studied the interactions of SP-D and alveolar macrophages with Klebsiella pneumoniae, a common cause of nosocomial pneumonia. SP-D does not agglutinate encapsulated K. pneumoniae but selectively agglutinates spontaneous, unencapsulated phase ...

Microbiological food safety is a global issue therefore this study was designed to investigate the bacteria contamination in Wara (curdled milk) and antibiotic susceptibility of the bacterial isolates. A total number of twenty-seven samples of “Wara” were purchased from five different locations in Oyo South Senatorial District, Nigeria. The behavioural pattern was investigated using questionnai...

In a study of 1,777 Klebsiella strains, we discovered KPN1705, which was distinct from all recognized Klebsiella spp. We closed the genome of strain KPN1705 using a hybrid of Illumina short-read and Oxford Nanopore long-read technologies. For this novel species, we propose the name Klebsiella quasivariicola sp. nov.

In the present study, Lactobacillus (160) isolates were isolated from curd sample. The isolates were aimed to analyze the antibacterial potential against Escherichia coli, Vibrio cholerae sub sp., ogawa, V. cholerae sub sp., inaba, Klebsiella sp., Proteus sp. and Shigella dysenteriae. All the isolates were inhibiting the tested Enteropathogenic bacteria except S. dysenteriae. Lactobacillus isol...
