the concepts of similarity and dissimilarity have been the interest of many researchers. basically, in the studies the similarity between two objects or phenomena, has been discussed. in this thesis, we consider the case when the resemblance or similarity among three objects or phenomena of a set, 3-similarity in our terminology, is desired. later we will extend our definitions and propos...
Often, when dealing with real-world recognition problems, we do not need, and often cannot have, knowledge of the entire set possible classes that might appear during operational testing. In such cases, need to think robust classification methods able deal "unknown" properly reject samples belonging never seen training. Notwithstanding, existing classifiers date were mostly developed for closed...
this paper describes the development of a fuzzy decision support system (fdss) for the assessment of risk in e-commerce (ec) development. a web-based prototype fdss is suggested to assist ec project managers in identifying potential ec risk factors and the corresponding project risks. a risk analysis model for ec development using a fuzzy set approach is proposed and incorporated into the fdss....
In this paper the notion of support points of convex sets in normed cones is introduced and it is shown that in a continuous normed cone, under the appropriate conditions, the set of support points of a bounded Scott-closed convex set is nonempty. We also present a Bishop-Phelps type Theorem for normed cones.
The monoid $Cb$ of name substitutions and the notion of finitely supported $Cb$-sets introduced by Pitts as a generalization of nominal sets. A simple finitely supported $Cb$-set is a one point extension of a cyclic nominal set. The support map of a simple finitely supported $Cb$-set is an injective map. Also, for every two distinct elements of a simple finitely supported $Cb$-set, there exists...
The rough set concept is a new mathematical approach to imprecision, vagueness and uncertainty. To some extend it overlaps with fuzzy set theory and evidence theory – nevertheless the rough set theory can be viewed in its own rights, as an independent discipline. Many real-life applications of the theory have proved its practical usefulness. The paper presents the basic assumptions underlying t...
let g=(v,e) be a graph with vertex set v and edge set e.for two vertices u,v of g ,the closed interval i[u,v] ,consists of u,v and all vertices lying in some u-v geodesic in g.if s is a set of vertices of g then i[s]is the union of all sets i[u,v]for u,v ? s. if i[s]=v(g) , then s is a geodetic set for g.the geodetic number g(g) is the minimum cardinality of geodetic set.the maximum cardinalit...
Both fuzzy set theory and rough set theory play an important role in data-driven, systems modelling and analysis. They have been successfully applied to building various intelligent decision support systems (amongst many others). This paper presents an integrated utilisation of some recent advances in these theories for detection and prevention of serious crime (e.g. terrorism). It is shown tha...
Abstract This article is a tribute to the scientific legacy of automated reasoning pioneer and JAR founder Lawrence T. (Larry) Wos. Larry’s main technical contributions were set-of-support strategy for resolution theorem proving, demodulation paramodulation inference rules building equality into resolution. Starting from original definitions these concepts in papers, this survey traces their ev...
