In the drug design process, one wants to construct chemical compounds with certain properties. In order to establish the mathematical basis for the connections between molecular structures and physicochemical properties of chemical compounds, some so-called structure-descriptors or ”topological indices” have been put forward. Among them, the Wiener index is one of the most important. A long sta...

We study the C∗-algebra of Wiener–Hopf operators AΩ on a cone Ω with polyhedral base P. As is known, a sequence of symbol maps may be defined, and their kernels give a filtration by ideals of AΩ, with liminary subquotients. One may define K-group valued “index maps” between the subquotients. These form the E1 term of the Atiyah–Hirzebruch type spectral sequence induced by the filtration. We sho...

LDDist is a Perl module implemented in C++ that allows the user to calculate LogDet pair-wise genetic distances for amino acid as well as nucleotide sequence data. It can handle site-to-site rate variation by treating a proportion of the sites as invariant and/or by assigning sites to different, presumably homogenous, rate categories. The rate-class assignments and invariant proportion can be s...

A recent linear time-varying (LTV) generalisation of Vinnicombe’s ν-gap measure of the difference between openloop systems from a closed-loop perspective, is defined in terms of normalised strong representations of system graphs and a Fredholm index constraint on a family of Toeplitz-Wiener-Hopf operators, parametrised by start time. It is shown that the LTV definition of the ν-gap is invariant...

since 2005 a new powerful invariant of an algebra has emerged using the earlier work of horvath, hethelyi, kulshammer and murray. the authors studied morita invariance of a sequence of ideals of the center of a nite dimensional algebra over a eld of nite characteristic. it was shown that the sequence of ideals is actually a derived invariant, and most recently a slightly modi ed version o...

A design method is presented that extends least mean squared (LMS) adaptation of time-varying parameters by including general linear time-invariant filters that operate on the instantaneous gradient vector. The aim is to track time-varying parameters of linear regression models in situations where the regressors are stationary or have slowly time-varying properties. The adaptation law is optimi...

We prove a Wiener-Tauberian theorem for the L1 spherical functions on a semisimple Lie group of arbitrary real rank. We also establish a Schwartz type theorem for complex groups. As a corollary we obtain a Wiener-Tauberian type result for compactly supported distributions.

neural networks are applicable in identification systems from input-output data. in this report, we analyze thehammerstein-wiener models and identify them. thehammerstein-wiener systems are the simplest type of block orientednonlinear systems where the linear dynamic block issandwiched in between two static nonlinear blocks, whichappear in many engineering applications; the aim of nonlinearsyst...
