This paper introduces the characterizations of both semi-stable and stage extensions in terms of 2-valued logical models. To this end, the so-called GL-supported and GL-stage models are defined. These two classes of logical models are logic programming counterparts of the notion of range which is a coined concept in argumentation semantics.

This paper presents an experiment with human subjects concerning the vague spatial relation ‘near’ in environmental space. After the topic is introduced and relevant previous work surveyed, the experiment is described. Three approaches to experimental analysis are presented and discussed: nearness neighbourhoods as regions with broad boundaries, fuzzy nearness and distance measures, and four-va...

Kleene’s strong three-valued logic extends naturally to a four-valued logic proposed by Belnap. We introduce a guard connective into Belnap’s logic and consider a few of its properties. Then we show that by using it four-valued analogs of Kleene’s weak three-valued logic, and the asymmetric logic of Lisp are also available. We propose an extension of these ideas to the family of distributive bi...

Construction of the unified and shared domain ontology is significant for effective knowledge management. For the acquisition and sharing of scientific research knowledge under Web2.0, a novel approach of building Interval Valued Fuzzy Ontology (IVFO) in scientific research domain is presented. Through interval valued fuzzy theory, the definition and constructing framework of IVFO is proposed. ...

The following result of convex analysis is well–known [2]: If the function f : X → [−∞, +∞] is convex and some x0 ∈ core (dom f) satisfies f(x0) > −∞, then f never takes the value −∞. From a corresponding theorem for convex functions with values in semi–linear spaces a variety of results is deduced, among them the mentioned theorem, a theorem of Deutsch and Singer on the single–valuedness of co...

*Correspondence: [email protected] School of Science, Sichuan University of Science and Engineering, Zigong, Sichuan 643000, China Abstract This paper introduces the notion of exceptional family of elements for generalized variational inequalities in Hilbert spaces. The set-valued mapping is assumed to be upper semi-continuous compact with nonempty closed convex values. Based on topological deg...

A complete classification of generalized symmetries of the Yang-Mills equations on Minkowski space with a semi-simple structure group is carried out. It is shown that any generalized symmetry, up to a generalized gauge symmetry, agrees with a first order symmetry on solutions of the Yang-Mills equations. Let g = g1+ · · ·+gn be the decomposition of the Lie algebra g of the structure group into ...

In his well-known paper \How computer should think" ((Be77b]) Belnap argues that four valued semantics is a very suitable setting for computerized reasoning. In this paper we vindicate this thesis by showing that the logical role that the four-valued structure has among Ginsberg's well-known bilattices is similar to the role that the two-valued algebra has among Boolean algebras. Speciically, w...

Axiomatic bases of admissible rules are obtained for fragments of the substructural logic R-mingle. In particular, it is shown that a “modus-ponens-like” rule introduced by Arnon Avron forms a basis for the admissible rules of its implication and implication-fusion fragments, while a basis for the admissible rules of the full multiplicative fragment requires an additional countably infinite set...
