We prove that the combinatorial diameter of the skeleton of the polytope of feasible solutions of any m× n transportation problem is less than 12 (m + n). The transportation problem ( TP ) is a classic problem in operations research. The problem was posed for the first time by Hitchcock in 1941 [8] and independently by Koopmans in 1947 [11], and appears in any standard introductory course on op...

We prove that the combinatorial diameter of the skeleton of the polytope of feasible solutions of any m× n transportation problem is at most 8 (m+ n− 2). The transportation problem (TP ) is a classic problem in operations research. The problem was posed for the first time by Hitchcock in 1941 [9] and independently by Koopmans in 1947 [12], and appears in any standard introductory course on oper...

This article proposes a mixed integer non-linear programming model for the optimizing supply chains of importers of waterborne containerized goods from Asia to the USA. This model determines the least-cost strategy for an importer, in terms of ports and landside transportation modes to be used, where costs considered include costs for transportation and handling, pipeline inventory, and safety-...

In this paper, we propose an O(n) time algorithm for the Hitchcock transportation problem with n demand points and xed number of supply points. When the number of supply points is very small and the number of demand points is much larger than that of supply points, our algorithm is e cient. If we have m supply points, the time complexity of our algorithm is bounded by O((m!) 2 n) .

BACKGROUND No existing measures of HIV care access consider both spatial proximity to services and provider-related characteristics in a single measure. We developed and applied a tool to: (1) quantify spatial access to HIV care services (supply) and (2) identify underserved areas with respect to HIV cases (demand), by travel mode, in Atlanta. METHODS Building on a study of HIV care engagemen...

Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is one of the recent innovations for the enhancement of capabilities of Supply Chain Management. In this research, we aim to study the various activities of the Supply Chain processes of the various Indian Manufacturing Industries i.e. both SME’s {Small Manufacturing Enterprises} & Large Scale Industries & finds how much ecofriendly they are (i.e. how much %...

This research focuses on estimating and understanding the costs and causes of transportation related supply chain disruptions. In-depth interviews with logistics managers were undertaken to investigate how companies perceive transportation related supply chain disruptions and what they are doing to respond and address them. Stated choice experiments were designed to estimate the cost of disrupt...

The blood supply chain as a part of healthcare systems play a substantial role in health improvement within societies, and blood supply for daily needs and especially in disasters is the challenges requiring more attention. This paper presents a fuzzy-stochastic mixed integer linear programming model to design blood supply chain network for disaster relief. To deal with the uncertainty in model...

Supply chain management in second half recent century extended so much and in current century this extension is continued. One of the scopes that to be interested is extension and adaptation of production and inventory control policy, under just in time philosophy, for material and production control in supply chain. Hence in this paper we will adapt pull-push CONWIP (constant work in process)...

Background and Objectives: One of the key issues in determining location for blood supply center is the design of blood supply chain. To minimize the cost of blood supply, the donors should be reached easily with appropriate distribution of blood and blood products to the hospital. The aim of this study was calculating of the optimal number and location of different various t...
