Shippers and motor carriers are impacted by and react differently to travel time variability due to their positions within the supply chain and end goals. Through interviews and focus groups these differences have been further examined. Shippers, defined here as entities that send or receive goods, but do not provide the transportation themselves, are most often concerned with longer-term disru...

A supply Chain (SC) with single vendor and single buyer is considered. In this research is presents lead time reduction system in an integrated inventory model for non-defective items in order to minimizing the sum of the ordering cost/setup cost, holding cost, transportation cost, production cost and lead time crashing cost of simultaneously optimizing the optimal order quantity, lead time and...

An analysis was conducted to examine the market visibility of small aircraft as a transportation mode in competition with automobile and scheduled commercial air travel by estimating the pool of users that would potentially switch on-demand air travel due to cost/time saving. These new aircraft greatly increase the practicality of regional aircraft as a transportation mode that can avoid the co...

The supply chain between manufacturers and retailers always includes transshipments through a network of locations. A major challenge in making demand meet supply has been to coordinate transshipment activities across the chain aimed at reducing costs and increasing service levels in the face of a range of factors, including demand fluctuations, short lead times, warehouse limitations and trans...

Rhus chinensis Mill is a potential plant for phytoremediation of Pb and able to uptake copious amount Pb. However, little known about the pathways properties in this plant. Here, controlled experiments were used assess translocation R. chinensis. The whole time-kinetics divided into two stages: rapid slower accumulation, processes fitted with linear model. concentration-dependent kinetics chara...

In this paper, we propose an O(n) time algorithm for the Hitchcock transportation problem with n demand points and xed number of supply points. When the number of supply points is very small and the number of demand points is much larger than that of supply points, our algorithm is e cient. If we have m supply points, the time complexity of our algorithm is bounded by O((m!) 2 n) .

In recent works on the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), “intelligent” and “sustainable” have been the buzzwords in the context of transportation. Maintaining sustainability in IoV is always a challenge. Sustainability in IoV can be achieved not only by the use of pollution-free vehicular systems, but also by maintenance of road traffic safety or prevention of accidents or collisions. With the aim of...

Selection of appropriate infrastructure transportation projects such as highways, plays an important role in promotion of transportation systems. Usually in evaluation of transportation projects, because of lack of information or due to long time and high expenditures needed for gathering information, different effective factors are ignored. Thus, in this research, regarding multi criteria na...

We study lead time options in a manufacturer and a retailer supply chain where the retailer uses the (R, Q) inventory policy: the retailer places an order to the manufacturer who uses a transporter to deliver the order a lead time later. The manufacturer promises to expedite or postpone the delivery (using its own means or different transportation options) by a certain amount of time if the ret...
