In the title 1:1 co-crystal, [PtCl2(C11H14ClN3O)2]·C7H5ClO, the coordination polyhedron of the Pt(II) atom is slightly distorted square-planar with the chloride and 2,3-di-hydro-1,2,4-oxa-diazole ligands mutually trans, as the Pt atom lies on an inversion center. The 4-chloro-benzaldehyde mol-ecules are statistically disordered about an inversion centre with equal occupancies for the two positi...

trans-[Pt(C[triple bond]C(Ar)C[triple bond]CH)2(PMe3)2](Ar = C(6)Me(4)-3,4,5,6) (1) reacts with PPN[Au(acac)(2)](Hacac = acetylacetone; 1 : 1.16 molar ratio; PPN = (Ph3P)2N) to give PPN[(Au[Pt(PMe3)2]2)(mu-Ar(C[triple bond]C)2)3] (2) the crystal structure of which showed the anions as quasi equilateral triangles stacked parallel to each other through C-HAu interactions, resulting in channels of...

Previous analysis of the pertussis toxin (PT) promoter has shown that expression of PT requires a trans-activating factor encoded by the vir locus and a 170-base-pair DNA sequence upstream from the transcription start site containing a 21-base-pair direct repeat sequence crucial trans-activation (R. Gross and R. Rappuoli, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 85:3913-3917, 1988). In this paper we extend t...

The reactivity of metal olefin complexes with non-innocent ligands (NILs) was examined. Treatment of PtCl(2)(diene) with the deprotonated catechol or aminophenol ligands afforded the corresponding Pt(NIL)(diene) complexes. The Pt((t)BA(F)Ph)(COD), Pt((t)BA(F)Ph)(nbd), and Pt(O(2)C(6)H(2)(t)Bu(2))(COD) (H(2)(t)BA(F)Ph = 2-(2-trifluoromethyl)anilino-4,6-di-tert-butylphenol, H(2)O(2)C(6)H(2)(t)Bu(...

The local reactivity of hydrogenated platinum clusters (Pt clusters) has been studied using the regional density functional theory method. We observed that antibond orbitals constitute the preferable binding site for hydrogen molecules H(2). Those sites are characterized by lowered electronic chemical potential and strong directionality and exhibit electrophilic nature. The platinum-dihydrogen ...

The color expression of anthocyanins can be affected by a variety of environmental factors and structural characteristics. Anthocyanin acylation (type and number of acids) is known to be key, but the influence of acyl isomers (with unique stereochemistries) remains to be explored. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of cis-trans configuration of the acylating group on the...

This chapter discusses molecular mechanics (MM)-based approaches to investigate organometallic complexes. In particular, ligand field MM (LFMM), “Sum of Interactions Between Fragments Ab Initio” (SIBFA), and VALBOND with its extension to VALBOND-TRANS are presented in some detail. Two particular applications of VALBOND-TRANS to an Ir(III) and a Pt(II) complex are presented. Possible future exte...

A series of homoleptic and heteroleptic platinum(II) complexes [Pt(C[triple bond]CFc)2(L-L)] (L-L = COD 1, 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) 2), Q2[cis/trans-Pt(C6F5)2(C[triple bond]CFc)2] (cis, Q = PMePh3, 3; trans, Q = NBu4, 4), (NBu4)[Pt(bzq)(C[triple bond]CFc)2] 5 (Hbzq = 7,8-benzoquinoline) and (NBu4)2[Pt(C[triple bond]CFc)4] 6 has been synthesized and characterized spectroscopic...

A microwave-assisted synthesis of cisplatin, cis-[Pt(NH3)2Cl2], has been developed and optimized on both a 0.2 and 0.05 millimolar scale. The optimized synthetic procedure was modeled after the Lebedinskii-Golovnya method and is suitable for incorporating the radionuclide, Pt, into cisplatin for biological studies. Highest yields (47 %) and purity are obtained using a K2PtCl4:NH4OAc:KCl molar r...
