in this article, we study the new streamline diffusion finite element for treating the linear second order hyperbolic initial-boundary value problem. we prove a posteriori $ l^2(l^2)$ and error estimates for this method under minimal regularity hypothesis. test problem of an application of the wave equation in the laser is presented to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

in this paper, based on the slab method of analysis, a novel and general approach isdeveloped for studying the radial forging process with curved profile dies. the presented approachis not only more general with respect to previous studies, but it is also easier to understand and useand can be efficiently used for optimization of the die profile depending on the forging geometryand conditions. ...

S. Tang LTCS, Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China fluid–structure boundaries, the arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian 26 (ALE) techniques (see [9,11,15,16,18,33,34]) and space27 time methods (see [28,29]) are typically used. Recently, such 28 approaches have also been adopted by [8] in the modeling of 29 fluid–particle (rigid) systems. Nevertheles...

Abstract. We propose and analyze a semi Lagrangian method for the convection-diffusion equation. Error estimates for both semi and fully discrete finite element approximations are obtained for convection dominated flows. The estimates are posed in terms of the projections constructed in [7, 8] and the dependence of various constants upon the diffusion parameter is characterized. Error estimates...

We propose an efficient numerical algorithm for computing deformations of ‘very’ soft tissues (such as the brain, liver, kidney etc.), with applications to real-time surgical simulation. The algorithm is based on the finite element method using the total Lagrangian formulation, where stresses and strains are measured with respect to the original configuration. This choice allows for pre-computi...

Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...

We combine the finite element method with the Eulerian–Lagrangian Localized Adjoint Method (ELLAM) to solve the convection–diffusion equations that describe the kinematics of magnetohydrodynamic flows, i.e., the advection and diffusion of a magnetic field. Simulations of three two-dimensional test problems are presented and in each case we analyze the energy of the magnetic field as it evolves ...

In this article it is shown how non-holonomic constraints can be included in the formulation of the dynamic equations of flexible multibody systems. The equations are given in state space form with the degrees of freedom, their derivatives and the kinematic coordinates as state variables, which circumvents the use of Lagrangian multipliers. With these independent state variables for the system ...

This paper describes a strategy to solve multifluid and Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) problems using Lagrangian particles combined with a fixed Finite Element (FE) mesh . The method is an extension from the fluid-only PFEM-2 [14][15], which uses explicit integration over the streamlines to improve accuracy. As a result, the convective term does not appear in the set of equations solved in t...

The main contribution of this paper is a procedure for the control by energy shaping of high-order port-Hamiltonian systems obtained from the spatial discretization of infinite dimensional dynamics. Beside the intrinsic difficulties related to the large number of state variables, the finite element model is generally given in terms of a Dirac structure and is completely a-causal, which implies ...
