Treatment of [PdCl2(PhCN)2] with diaryl telluride in 1 : 2 molar ratio gave mononuclear palladium complexes, trans-[PdCl2(TeR2)2] () (R = Mes () (Mes = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl), Ph (), o-tol () (o-tol = ortho-tolyl)). Reaction of [PdCl2(TeMes2)2] with one equivalent of [PdCl2(PhCN)2] or Na2PdCl4 with TeRR' afforded chloro-bridged binuclear complexes, [Pd2(μ-Cl)2Cl2(TeRR')2] () (R/R' = Mes/Mes ();...

A simple, rapid, cost-efficient and convenient method has been developed for synthesis of water-soluble CdTe quantum dots (QDs) under ambient atmospheric conditions. Using this method, the preparation of Te precursor and growth of CdTe QDs were achieved with one-step synthetic route. Under the optimal conditions, the as-prepared CdTe QDs possessed a high photoluminescence quantum yield (84%), a...

The thermoelectric properties and crystal structure of individual electrodeposited bismuth telluride nanowires NWs were characterized using a microfabricated measurement device and transmission electron microscopy. Annealing in hydrogen was used to obtain electrical contact between the NW and the supporting Pt electrodes. By fitting the measured Seebeck coefficient with a two-band model, the NW...

Bismuth telluride compounds are well-known to be among the most efficient thermoelectric materials at room temperature. Currently, some efforts are made to synthesize nanowires, since theoretical predictions have shown that their transport properties can be favourably modified compared with bulk materials. The feasibility of the electrochemical synthesis of bismuth telluride nanowires in porous...

A new member of the layered pseudo-1D material family-monoclinic gallium telluride (GaTe)-is synthesized by physical vapor transport on a variety of substrates. The [010] atomic chains and the resulting anisotropic behavior are clearly revealed. The GaTe flakes display multiple sharp photoluminescence emissions in the forbidden gap, which are related to defects localized around selected edges a...

A Monte Carlo (MC) technique is employed to investigate stationary electron transport in lead telluride (PbTe). Results for electron mobility as a function of lattice temperature, free carrier concentration, and electric field are compared with experimental data and the few available other Monte Carlo simulation results.

Iron telluride nanorods (FeTe NRs, length 45 ± 11 nm) prepared from tellurium nanowires (Te NWs, length 785 ± 170) have been used to detect H(2)O(2) and glucose with a limit of detection (LOD) of 55 nM (linear range = 0.1-5 μM) and 0.38 μM (linear range = 1-100 μM) respectively.

We develop a solid understanding of the termperature-dependent solubility of sodium p-type PbTe, the most efficient thermoelectric material. The maximum solubility of socium telluride (NaTe) in PbTe is measured to be 1.4+0.3 at percent and the heat of solution is evaluated and that addresses fundamental issues regarding the formation of nano-precipitates.
