Propagation of light beams through scattering or multimode systems may lead to the randomization of the spatial coherence of the light. Although information is not lost, its recovery requires a coherent interferometric reconstruction of the original signals, which have been scrambled into the modes of the scattering system. Here, we show that we can automatically unscramble optical beams that h...

This paper deals with the construction of a computation tree (hypertree) for interacting systems modeled using graphs (hypergraphs) that preserve the marginal probability of any vertex of interest. Local message passing equations have been used for some time to approximate the marginal probabilities in graphs but it is known that these equations are incorrect for graphs with loops. In this pape...

In this paper we give some ideas that can be useful to solve Schrodinger equations in the case when the Hamiltonian contains a large term. We obtain an expansion of the solution in reciprocal powers of the large coupling constant. The procedure followed consists in considering that the small part of the Hamiltonian engenders a motion adiabatic to the motion generated by the large part of the same.

Approximate counting via correlation decay is the core algorithmic technique used in the sharp delineation of the computational phase transition that arises in the approximation of the partition function of anti-ferromagnetic two-spin models. Previous analyses of correlation-decay algorithms implicitly depended on the occurrence of strong spatial mixing. This, roughly, means that one uses worst...

After noting the well known similarity of the minimal electro-weak Higgs sector with the simple linear sigma model for the pion and σ I observe that a small mixing term between the two models generates a pion mass. Although both sectors, taken separately or together, have the same custodial SU(2)L×SU(2)R (and gauged SU(2)L×U(1) symmetry), the mixing breaks the relative chiral symmetry between t...

This paper examines linear- k terms in the gamma(8) valence-band Hamiltonian for heterostructures of zinc-blende-type semiconductors. In bulk crystals such terms are known to be extremely small, due to their origin as relativistic perturbations from d and f orbitals. However, in heterostructures there is a nonvanishing contribution from p orbitals. This contribution is an order of magnitude lar...

We study three mixing properties of a graph: large algebraic connectivity, large Cheeger constant (isoperimetric number) and large spectral gap from 1 for the second largest eigenvalue of the transition probability matrix of the random walk on the graph. We prove equivalence of this properties (in some sense). We give estimates for the probability for a random graph to satisfy these properties....

Although tribimaximal mixing (TBM) and quark-lepton complementarity (QLC) are both compatible with experimental data within one standard deviation (1σ), the TBM and QLC assumptions are mutually exclusive by 56σ. [email protected] [email protected] Two popular assumptions in particle phenomenology model building are tribimaximal mixing (TBM) and quark-lepton complementarity(QLC). In t...

Bounds for non-commutative versions of two classical strong mixing coefficients for q-Gaussian processes are found in terms of the angle between the underlying Hilbert spaces. As a consequence, we construct a ψ-mixing qGaussian stationary sequence with growth conditions on variances of partial sums. If classical processes with analogous properties were to exist, they would provide a counter-exa...

The property of spatial mixing and strong spatial mixing in spin systems has been of interest because of its implications on uniqueness of Gibbs measures on infinite graphs and efficient approximation of counting problems that are otherwise known to be #P hard. In the context of coloring, strong spatial mixing has been established for regular trees in [GS11] when q ≥ α∗∆+ 1 where q the number o...
