This paper presents a step-by-step tutorial of the methods and the tools that were used for the reliability analysis of fault-tolerant systems. The approach of this paper is the Markov (or semi-Markov) state-space method. The paper is intended for design engineers with a basic understanding of computer architecture and fault tolerance, but little knowledge of reliability modeling. The represent...
Testing has become an important design step now days in digital circuit. A gate level fault simulation environment based on realistic fault models has been presented in this paper. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed which allows having fault simulation with conditional execution of test vector under 2 phase scheme. By using this approach a random search of test vectors is possible without bei...
Robustness, through fault tolerance, is a property often put forward in order to advocate MAS. The question is: What is the first step to be fault tolerant? Obviously the answer is: to know faults. The claim of this paper is that existing fault classification suitable for distributed systems does not fit completely MAS needs because of autonomy, the main characteristic of their components. Actu...
faults/fractures detection is an essential step of the full field study in hydrocarbon reservoir. definition of exact location of these structural events is a critical step to optimize location of the development wells. despite of the fast development of the geo science technology and oil industry in recent years, detection of the small geological events such as faults and fractures in some of ...
The detectability of planetesimal impacts on imaged exoplanets can be measured using Jupiter during the 1994 comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 events as a proxy. By integrating the whole planet flux with and without impact spots, the effect of the impacts at wavelengths from 2 4 μm is revealed. Jupiter’s reflected light spectrum in the near-infrared is dominated by its methane opacity including a deep ban...
In this paper, a new algorithm to solve the discrete logarithm problem is presented which is similar to the usual baby-step giant-step algorithm. Our algorithm exploits the order of the discrete logarithm in the multiplicative group of a finite field. Using randomization with parallelized collision search, our algorithm indicates some weakness in NIST curves over prime fields which are consider...
We study the giant magnon solutions in the near horizon geometry of the Neveu-Schwarz (NS) 5-brane background. In conformal gauge, we find magnon dispersion relation in the large angular momentum (J) limit. We further show that the giant magnon poses uniform distribution of the angular momentum along the string world-sheet as in case of AdS5 × S5 spacetime.

Despite common belief, Baby Boomers form a sizable population of gamers. Paying attention to how this generation experiences a game can help companies that target this group of users increase their market share. To address this need, this study examines Baby Boomers’ reaction to a new way of manipulating objects in a game, namely with their eyes. In particular, the study focuses on testing the ...
Fling-step and forward directivity are two important characteristics of near-field earthquakes. Forward directivity occurs when the rupture propagates toward the site and arises in fault‐normal direction for strike‐slip faults. Fling-step is the consequence of permanent ground displacement imposed by near-field earthquakes and arises in strike-slip faults in the strike parallel direction. Fling...
