This paper deals with the shape preserving C rational cubic interpolation. The developed rational cubic interpolating function has only one free parameter. The approximation order of rational cubic function is investigated and range of optimal error constant is determined. Moreover, positive, constrained and monotone data preserving schemes are developed. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification...

We give a local convexity preserving interpolation scheme using parametric 2 C cubic splines with uniform knots produced by a vector subdivision scheme which simultaneously provides the function and its first and second order derivatives. This is also adapted to give a scheme which is both local convexity and local monotonicity preserving when the data values are strictly increasing in the x di...

In this work we present a number of results concerning the nite dimensional band-limited interpolation problem. Our aim is to understand how the stability of the interpolation problem is aaected by changes in the positions of the interpolation knots. We give upper and lower bounds for the eigenvalues of the interpolation matrix, as functions of the gaps between missing samples. The upper bound ...

This study is concerned with the visualization of monotone data using a piecewise C rational trigonometric interpolating scheme. Four positive shape parameters are incorporated in the structure of rational trigonometric spline. Conditions on two of these parameters are derived to attain the monotonicity of monotone data and other two are left free. Figures are used widely to exhibit that the pr...

A piecewise rational cubic spline [5] has been used to visualize the positive data in its natural form. The spline representation is interpolatory and applicable to the scalar valued data. The shape parameters in the description of a rational cubic have been constrained in such a way that they preserve the shape of the positive data in the view of positive curve. As far as visual smoothness is ...

Antoulas and Sorensen have recently proposed a passivity-preserving model-reduction method of linear systems based on Krylov projections. The idea is to approximate a positive-real rational transfer function with one of lower degree. The method is based on an observation by Antoulas (in the single-input/singleoutput case) that if the approximant is preserving a subset of the spectral zeros and ...

An explicit representation of a C1 piecewise rational cubic spline has been developed, which can produce a monotonic interpolant to given monotonic data. The explicit representation is easily constructed, and numerical experiments indicate that the method produces visually pleasing curves. Furthermore, an error analysis of the interpolant is given.

The construction of a range restricted bivariate C ( or G ) interpolant to scattered data is considered in which the interpolant is positive everywhere if the original data are positive. This study is motivated by earlier work in which sufficient conditions are derived on Bézier points in order to ensure that surfaces comprising cubic Bézier triangular patches are always positive and satisfy C ...
