Fluoride in spray pyrolysis precursor solutions for silicon-doped zinc oxide (SiZO) transparent conductor thin films significantly improves their electrical conductivity by enhancing silicon doping efficiency and not, as previously assumed, by fluoride doping. Containing only earth-abundant elements, SiZO thus prepared rivals the best solution-processed indium-doped ZnO in performance.

Ultrafine Sb nanocrystals, uniformly distributed in a carbon matrix with a microspherical morphology, were synthesized by one-pot spray pyrolysis. The Sb-carbon composite microspheres exhibited good Na-storage properties with stable cyclability, a capacity retention of 90% over 100 cycles, and good rate performance.

Gold nanoparticles encapsulated in porous carbon spheres with high surface areas (~800 m(2) g(-1)) have been synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP). The porous carbon-encapsulated gold nanoparticles exhibit excellent catalytic activity toward the reductions of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic nitroaromatics.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were synthesized by spray pyrolysis method using an aqueous solution of zinc acetate at various concentrations from 5 to 25 wt%. The decomposition of precursor solutions was carried out at 800, 1000 and 1200ºC under different atomizing pressures. The crystal structure and morphology of synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction ...

In the present work we report on an investigation of TiO(2) nanotube arrays sensitized by low band-gap materials, such as CdS and CdSe, prepared by the one-step spray pyrolysis deposition method, which is very suitable for mass production, and their performance in photoelectrochemical cells.

Silicone microspheres are exceedingly difficult to make. Here, polydimethylsiloxane microspheres (≈1 μm diameter) are synthesized using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis, the first demonstration of a scalable synthetic procedure for crosslinked silicone microspheres. This continuous, aerosol process is also used to directly produce fluorescent, magnetic, and copolymeric derivatives; the potential biom...

A study of ZnO-based ceramic films prepared by the spray-pyrolysis technique is presented. Pure and Ni-doped thin film samples were deposited as a coating on glass substrate experimentally characterized using scanning electron atomic force microscopies, X-ray diffraction, UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy. The morphologic, crystallographic, optical properties analyzed. Structural electronic compared to p...

A new route to highly active hopcalite catalysts via flame spray pyrolysis of an inverse microemulsion precursor is reported. The nitrate derived nanoparticles are around 15 nm in diameter and show excellent conversion of CO under ambient conditions, outperforming commercial reference hopcalite materials produced by co-precipitation.
