Unlike wavelets, shearlets form a pyramid of well-localize...

Decomposition spaces are a class of function constructed out “well-behaved” coverings and partitions unity set. The structure the covering determines properties decomposition space. Besov spaces, shearlet mo

Title: Abstract: I will discuss a new decomposition of the 3D X-ray transform based on the shearlet representation, a multiscale directional representation which is optimally efficient in handling 3D data containing edge singularities. This decomposition yields a highly effective reconstruction algorithm providing a near-optimal rate of convergence in estimating piecewise smooth objects from 3D...

In this chapter, we illustrate the properties of the continuous shearlet transform with respect to its ability to describe the set of singularities of multidimensional functions and distributions. This is of particular interest since singularities and other irregular structures typically carry the most essential information in multidimensional phenomena. Consider, for example, the edges of natu...

Recently, the research towards Brodatz database for texture classification done at considerable amount of study has been published, the effective classification are vulnerable towards for training and test sets. This study presents the novel texture classification method based on feature descriptor, called spatial cooccurrence with discrete shearlet transformation through the LPboosting classif...

This note is concerned with the generalization of the continuous shearlet transform to higher dimensions. Quite recently, a first approach has been derived in [4]. We present an alternative version which deviates from [4] mainly by a different generalization of the shear component. It turns out that the resulting integral transform is again associated with a square-integrable group representation.

It is known that the Continuous Wavelet Transform of a distribution f decays rapidly near the points where f is smooth, while it decays slowly near the irregular points. This property allows the identification of the singular support of f . However, the Continuous Wavelet Transform is unable to describe the geometry of the set of singularities of f and, in particular, identify the wavefront set...

Identifying and characterizing flame fronts is the most common task in the computer-assisted analysis of data obtained from imaging techniques such as planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), laser Rayleigh scattering (LRS), or particle imaging velocimetry (PIV). We present Complex Shearlet-Based Ridge and Edge Measure (CoShREM), a novel edge and ridge (line) detection algorithm based on compl...
