It was found that fenugreek seed extract reduced the body weight gain induced by a high-fat diet in obese mice. The extract decreased plasma triglyceride gain induced by oil administration. The major component of the extract, 4-hydroxyisoleucine, also decreased plasma triglyceride gain. Consequently, fenugreek seed extract is expected to prevent the obesity induced by a high-fat diet.

From 8-10 days old seedlings of Pisum sativum L. (variety AP-1), various parts root, cotyledon as well as leaf were separated to use as explants. Root and cotyledonary explants did not show any response on MS (Murashige & Skoog) media supplemented with 2, 4-D at a concentration of 5 ppm. However, leaf explants showed callus formation on this media. The callus so formed was subcultured on MS med...

Tall fescue (Lolium arundinaceum) toxicosis research is often complicated by a reduction in intake of infected forage or seed, making treatment comparisons difficult. This study was conducted to develop a fescue toxicosis model that would allow for variations in DMI without altering the quantity of alkaloids consumed over the course of the experiment. Ground tall fescue seed and a tall fescue s...
