The Rhododendron spp. (R. yedoense and R. mucronulatum) at high elevations of Mt. Halla in Jeju Island are the dominant species shrubland. Despite recent damage to their growth due climate change spread Sasa spp., these have not yet been studied systematically Korea. Therefore, current study aimed verify effect abiotic factors, e.g., temperature precipitation, as a neighbor on based ring-width ...
Pollinator and/or mate scarcity affects pollen transfer, with important ecological and evolutionary consequences for plant reproduction. However, the way in which the pollen loads transported by pollinators and deposited on stigmas are affected by pollination context has been little studied. We investigated the impacts of plant mate and visiting insect availabilities on pollen transport and rec...
Elevation gradients are frequently used as space-for-time substitutions to infer species' trait responses to climate change. However, studies rarely investigate whether trait responses to elevation are widespread or population-specific within a species, and the relative genetic and plastic contributions to such trait responses may not be well understood. Here, we examine plant trait variation i...
PURPOSE The genus Rhododendron is distributed entirely in the world with the exception of South and Central America and Africa, growing in a large diversity of climatic conditions. This genus is a rich source of phenolic compounds, especially flavonoids, essential oils, chromones, terpenoids, and steroids. It has many biological properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti...
In this study, two halophilic bacterial strains isolated from saline habitats in Argentina grew in the presence of gas oil. They were identified as Halomonas spp. and Nesterenkonia sp. by 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing. Chemotaxis towards gas oil was observed in Halomonas spp. by using swimming assays.
Two new species, Exobasidium rhododendri-nivalis on Rhododendron nivale and E. pyroloides on Gaultheria pyroloides, are reported. They were collected from Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces. Exobasidium rhododendri-nivalis causes small galls on leaves, stems and shoots, while E. pyroloides causes red leaf spots. Exobasidium cylindrosporum on Rhododendron sp., collected from Jiangxi Province, is repor...
