A polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method for detection of cry11 genes from Bacillus thuringiensis was established. Based on the analysis of conserved regions of the cry11 genes, 2 oligonucleotide primers were designed to amplify a 1459-bp fragment of the cry11Aa gene, and a 1471-bp of the cry11Ba and cry11Bb genes. The amplification products were di...

The availability of a variety of restriction endonuclease enzymes that cleave deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) at specific sites has made it possible to identify the presence of polymorphic regions in the isolated fragments. Such restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) results owing to a variation in the number of tandem repeats (VNTR) of a short DNA segment. These VNTR sequences can uniquel...

We developed an alternative nested-PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) protocol for the detection of Cyclospora cayetanensis in environmental samples that obviates the need for microscopic examination. The RFLP method, with the restriction enzyme AluI, differentiates the amplified target sequence from C. cayetanensis from those that may cross-react. This new protocol was used to...

An attempt has been made to analyze the distribution of the beta-lactoglobulin genotype in swamp buffaloes and Murrah buffaloes utilizing polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP). Blood samples were taken from 50 swamp buffaloes and 50 Murrah buffaloes. The DNA was extracted by the phenol-chloroform method. The PCR-RFLP was performed using beta-lactoglobulin ...

The stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1) gene contains a common polymorphism, termed SDF1-3'A, in an evolutionarily conserved segment of the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR). We compared SDF-1 genotypes in patients diagnosed with lymphoid leukemias and lymphomas. Since the SDF1-3'A variant deletes the MspI restriction site, PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis was used f...

BACKGROUND Fusarium species are capable of causing a wide range of crop plants infections as well as uncommon human infections. Many species of the genus produce mycotoxins, which are responsible for acute or chronic diseases in animals and humans. Identification of Fusaria to the species level is necessary for biological, epidemiological, pathological, and toxicological purposes. In this study...

BACKGROUND Genetic polymorphisms of drug metabolisms by cytochrome P450 (P450s) could affect drug response, attracting particular interest in the pharmacogenetics. Due to the importance of CYP2C19* 17 allele and its capability of super- fast metabolism and also lack of information about distribution of the alleles in Iranian population, this research aimed to use High Resolution Melting (HRM) m...

Variant DNA sequences flanking the human insulin gene were found in the Danish population using restriction endonucleases (restriction fragment length polymorphism). The frequencies of these DNA sequences were determined in 47 non-insulin-dependent diabetics and 93 control individuals. We report an association between a restriction fragment length polymorphism of the insulin gene and NIDDM.

INTRODUCTION Numerous hormones, neurotransmitters, and other stimuli exert their biological effect on cellular functioning through heptahelical receptors coupled to G proteins (GPCR - G protein-coupled receptors). Adrenergic receptors that belong to this superfamily of receptors are components of the sympathetic nervous system. They play a pivotal role in blood pressure regulation and myocardia...

BACKGROUND Asthma is caused by the combination of different factors. Current concepts of asthma pathogenesis emphasize on gene-environment interactions. Mega-genome scanning projects revealed that different Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) are related to asthma susceptibility. rs7216389-T is one of them that is related to childhood asthma and its effect on childhood asthma severity has be...
