Niobium and antimony doped tin oxide loose-tubes decorated with Pt nanoparticles present outstanding mass activity and stability, exceeding those of a reference carbon-based electrocatalyst. Physico-chemical characterisation and in particular X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy demonstrate that this observation can be ascribed to the strong metal-support interaction promoting electroactivity and P...

The objective of this work was to prepare hybrid nanoparticles of graphene sheets decorated with strontium metallic nanoparticles and demonstrate their advantages in bone tissue engineering. Strontium-decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO_Sr) hybrid nanoparticles were synthesized by the facile reduction of graphene oxide and strontium nitrate. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy...

In this work, large size (i.e., diameter > 100 nm) graphene tubes with nitrogen-doping are prepared through a high-temperature graphitization process of dicyandiamide (DCDA) and Iron(II) acetate templated by a novel metal-organic framework (MIL-100(Fe)). The nitrogen-doped graphene tube (N-GT)-rich iron-nitrogen-carbon (Fe-N-C) catalysts exhibit inherently high activity towards the oxygen reduc...

Abstract: In this work, the amounts of the adsorption of conjugated polymers onto graphene/ graphene oxide were examined by reactive force-field molecular dynamics simulation. The polymers were poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and poly(phenothiazine vinylene-polythiophene)(PTZV-PT). The length and width of the graphene sheet were 95.19 Å and 54.16 Å, respectively. The graphene oxide sheets with di...

Nanoparticle-decorated tubular microengines were synthesized by a combination of rolled-up nanotechnology and atomic layer deposition. The presence of Pt nanoparticles with different sizes and distributions on the walls of microengines fabricated from bilayer nanomembranes with different materials results in promoted catalytic reaction efficiency, which leads to an ultrafast speed (the highest ...

An efficient and easy method is described which allows modification of supported nanocarbon films with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from an aqueous colloidal suspension. Subsequently CNTs can be decorated with Pt-nanoparticles directly from an aqueous solution of Pt ions without the need for reducing agents. High performance supercapacitors and electrocatalysts are obtained.

NiPt hollow spheres decorated by Pt nanoparticles were synthesized by a facile wet chemical route through galvanic replacement. In situ STEM imaging and 3D reconstruction were performed to evidence the migration of Pt atoms during catalysis of CO oxidation, providing a practical insight into the structural stability of bimetallic catalysts.

Surface charge state plays an important role in tuning the catalytic performance of nanocrystals in various reactions. Herein, we report a synthetic approach to unique Pt-Pd-graphene stack structures with controllable Pt shell thickness. These unique hybrid structures allow us to correlate the Pt thickness with performance in the hydrogen-evolution reaction (HER). The HER activity increases wit...
