Cooperation between mobile robots and wireless sensor networks is a line of research that is currently attracting a lot of attention. In this context, we study the following problem of barrier coverage by stationary wireless sensors that are assisted by a mobile robot with the capacity to move sensors. Assume that n sensors are initially arbitrarily distributed on a line segment barrier. Each s...
Numerical Meshless Method in Conjunction with Bayesian Theorem for Electrical Tomography of Concrete
Electric potential measurement technique (tomography) was introduced as a nondestructive method to evaluate concrete properties and durability. In this study, numerical meshless method was developed to solve a differential equation which simulates electric potential distribution for concrete with inclusion in two dimensions. Therefore, concrete samples with iron block inclusion in different loc...
This paper describes on-going work in the development of a document layout analysis system based on text line segments. It describes two novel algorithms: gapped text line finding, which can identify text line segments, taking into account per-text line font information for the determination of where text line segments break, and reading order recovery for text line segments using topological s...
In this paper, we formalize the Menger probabilistic normed space as a category in which its objects are the Menger probabilistic normed spaces and its morphisms are fuzzy continuous operators. Then, we show that the category of probabilistic normed spaces is isomorphicly a subcategory of the category of topological vector spaces. So, we can easily apply the results of topological vector spaces...
Pulse progagation on nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs), which are transmission lines with regularly spaced Schottky varactors, is investigated for the amplification of short pulses. It is found that the soliton developed in an NLTL experiences an exponential amplitude growth, when it couples with a co-existing voltage edge.
In previous work, I have presented approaches to nonmonotonic probabilistic reasoning, which is a probabilistic generalization of default reasoning from conditional knowledge bases. In this paper, I continue this exciting line of research. I present a new probabilistic generalization of Lehmann’s lexicographic entailment, called -entailment, which is parameterized through a value that describes...
Introduction The bright signal of fluid and blood can affect tumor detection in screening applications. Diffusion weighted EPI is now frequently employed to attenuate these signals and highlight tumors. Gradient pulses can also be added to unbalanced SSFP sequences to attenuate the signals with motion. It has been demonstrated that SSFP sequence is strongly sensitive to self-diffusion or other ...
A left-handed transmission line with regularly spaced Schottky varactors is experimentally characterized. Due to dispersion, an envelop pulse on the line experiences a great distortion. By measuring the test line, we successfully observed that this distortion is compensated for by the nonlinear effects of Schottky varactors. This article describes the experimental observations, together with fu...
