Objectives: To evaluate the impact of electronic health record (EHR) interoperability on the quality of immunization data in the North Dakota Immunization Information System (NDIIS). Methods: NDIIS doses administered data was evaluated for completeness of the patient and dose-level core data elements for records that belong to interoperable and non-interoperable providers. Data was compared at ...

BACKGROUND Newborns who have received hepatitis B immunization in 1980s are now young adults joining healthcare disciplines. The need for booster, pre- and post-booster checks becomes a practical question. AIMS The aim of this study is to refine the HBV vaccination policy for newly admitted students in the future. METHODS A prospective study on medical and nursing school entrants to evaluat...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate an encounter-based immunization prompting system on resident performance in administering vaccines and knowledge of immunization guidelines. DESIGN/METHODS Prospective randomized, controlled trial. Subjects were first- and second-year pediatric residents in a hospital-based continuity clinic. The intervention group received manual prompts of immunizations due. Postclini...

The neurotransmitter norepinephrine (NE) binds to the beta 2-adrenergic receptor (beta 2AR) expressed on various immune cells to influence cell homing, proliferation, and function. Previous reports showed that NE stimulation of the B cell beta 2AR is necessary for the maintenance of an optimal primary and secondary Th2 cell-dependent Ab response in vivo. In the present study we investigated the...

Immunization with irradiated Plasmodium sporozoites induces sterile immunity in rodents, monkeys and humans. The major surface component of the sporozoite the circumsporozoite protein (CS) long considered as the antigen predominantly responsible for this immunity, thus remains the leading candidate antigen for vaccines targeting the parasite's pre-erythrocytic (PE) stages. However, this role fo...

A pre-designed plasmid containing the gene encoding the second subunit of Echinococcus granulosus AgB8 (EgAgB8/2) was used to study the effect of the immunization route on the immune response in BALB/c mice. Mice were immunized with pDRIVEEgAgB8/2 or pDRIVE empty cassette using the intramuscular (i.m.), intranasal (i.n.) or the epidermal gene gun (g.g.) routes. Analysis of the antibody response...

Next generation sequencing enables identification of immunogenic tumor mutations targetable by individualized vaccines. In the B16F10 melanoma system as pre-clinical proof-of-concept model, we found a total of 563 non-synonymous expressed somatic mutations. Of the mutations we tested, one third were immunogenic. Immunization conferred in vivo tumor control, qualifying mutated epitopes as source...

Prevalence of anti Rubella antibodies was determined using ELISA technique. Seventy seven percent pregnant and 51% pre-pubertal females showed evidence of immunity against rubella while 23% pregnant females were susceptible to rubella infection. There is a need to start rubella immunization programme for girls, to lower the incidence of congenital Rubella (JPMA 37: 6, 1987).

We have successfully achieved transcutaneous immunization without the use of any skin pre-treatment or immune-stimulant adjuvant by applying a solid-in-oil (S/O) nanodispersion: an oil-based nanodispersion of antigens coated with hydrophobic surfactant molecules. This finding indicates that the S/O nanodispersion has great promise for effective transcutaneous vaccination.
