The Cori ester α-d-glucose 1-phosphate (αGlc 1-P) is a high-energy intermediate of cellular carbohydrate metabolism. Its glycosidic phosphomonoester moiety primes αGlc 1-P for flexible exploitation in glucosyl and phosphoryl transfer reactions. Two structurally and mechanistically distinct sugar-phosphate phosphatases from Escherichia coli were characterized in this study for utilization of αGl...

Triazole and itís derivatives are noteworthy for their physiological and biological importance. They paved the attention of medicinal chemist due to their wide range of biological activities like anti-inflammatory (1ñ5), antibacterial (6ñ8), anticonvulsant (9), antifungal (10ñ14) and anticancerous (15) etc. In view of above facts and inspired by the research going on triazole and its derivative...

Several inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme were also found to inhibit aminopeptidase P, whereas inhibitors of other mammalian aminopeptidases were ineffective. Aminopeptidase P purified from pig kidney cortex was found to contain one atom of zinc per polypeptide chain, confirming its metalloenzyme nature. The concentrations of converting enzyme inhibitors required to cause 50% inhibiti...

1,3,4-oxadiazoles are interesting compounds because of their valuable biological effects such as cytotoxic, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-tubercular activities. Ethyl mandelate was treated with hydrazine hydrate to yield the corresponding acylhydrazide. Some of the 2,5 disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives were prepared from acylhydrazide using three different procedures. In the firs...

The P atom in the title compound, C(16)H(17)Cl(3)N(3)O(2)P, is bonded in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry with the phosphoryl and carbonyl groups anti with respect to one another. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through (N-H)(2)⋯O(=P) and N-H⋯O(=C) hydrogen bonds into chains along [001]. The phosphoryl O atom acts as a double hydrogen-bond acceptor.

In both independent mol-ecules of the title compound, [Nd(C9H11NO4P)3(C12H8N2)], the Nd(III) atom is coordinated by six O atoms belonging to three phosphoryl ligands and two N atoms of 1,10-phenanthroline in a dodeca-hedral geometry. In the phosphoryl ligands, the benzene rings are twisted with respect to the planes of the sp(2)-hybridized C atoms of the chelate rings by 12.1 (1)-24.7 (1)°.

Adenylate kinases have an M(r) around 23,000 which classifies them among the smallest phosphoryl group transferring enzymes. In order to prevent phosphoryl transfer to water, i.e. hydrolysis, these enzymes undergo induced-fit motions on substrate binding and assemble/disassemble their catalytic centres during each reaction cycle. Details of these processes have been derived from several X-ray s...

The asymmetric nitro-Mannich reaction of N-phosphoryl imines with α-substituted nitroacetates was performed by using cinchona alkaloid thioureas as organocatalysts in toluene at -20 °C. The present method was highly tolerable to functionalized N-phosphoryl imines and provided a reliable synthetic route to obtain the corresponding β-nitro ethylphosphoramidates with adjacent quaternary and tertia...

The metal ion dependence of a2P binding to Escherichia coli alkaline phosphatase has been studied by means of equilibrium dialysis. Whereas the apoenzyme does not bind phosphate (no sites with K < 5 X 10-5 M), the addition of 2 Zn(I1) cations per molecule induces the tight binding of 1 phosphate dianion (K = 6 X 1OF M). The magnitude of this binding constant is affected by ionic strength, pH, a...
