An approach for nding the e¬ective properties of two-dimensional periodic rectangular checkerboard media is presented; it is demonstrated that one can take a relatively simple model problem, an appropriate system of joined quarter planes, and that after appropriate conformal transformation one can use this to solve for either periodic or doubly periodic structures. Illustrative calculations i...

Using the two-dimensional 3-disk system (in the A 1 representation) we compare the cluster phase shifts of the exact quantum mechanical problem with the corresponding cluster phase shift of the following semi-classical zeta functions: (a) the Gutzwiller-Voros zeta function, (b) the dynamical zeta function and (c) the quasi-classical determinant. Furthermore we show results for the squared modul...

In this paper methods to simulate the signals in laser interferometers are proposed. The central part deals with the computation of the photocurrent, subsequent phase demodulation and finally the generation of interferometer signals, such as the longitudinal phase readout, differential wavefront sensing signal, differential power sensing and contrast. Here, fundamental Gaussian beams without as...

The average and local structures of the PbTe 1−x PbS x system of thermoelectric materials has been studied using the Rietveld and atomic pair distribution function methods. Samples with 0.25 x are macroscopically phase separated. Phase separation was suppressed in a quenched x=0.5 sample which, nonetheless, exhibited a partial spinodal decomposition. The promising thermoelectric material with x...

We report about recent results obtained for the muon anomalous magnetic moment. Three-loop kernel functions have been computed to obtain the next-to-next-to-leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contributions. The numerical result, a had,NNLO μ = 1.24± 0.01× 10−10, is of the same order of magnitude as the current uncertainty from the hadronic contributions. For heavylepton corrections, ana...
