A new type of oscillon that arises from interaction between subcritical Turing and wave instabilities is found in a system of reaction-diffusion equations. These oscillons can be induced resonantly by localized external periodic perturbations. This phenomenon may be useful for frequency selection and/or information processing.

We demonstrate experimentally and theoretically (both analytically and numerically) a new type of spatial soliton: a rotating "propeller" soliton. This is a composite soliton made of a rotating dipole component jointly trapped with a bell-shaped component. We observe as much as 239 degrees of rotation over 13 mm of propagation (6.5 diffraction lengths).

Novel methods for identifying a new type of DNA latent periodicity, called latent profile periodicity or latent profility, are used to search for periodic structures in genes. These methods reveal two distinct levels of organization of genetic information encoding. It is shown that latent profility in genes may correlate with specific structural features of their encoded proteins.
This paper reviews recent progress on nonreciprocal metamaterials, especially with the nonreciprocity in the phase characteristics of transmission coefficients, and their applications to antennas. The nonreciprocal metamaterials are implemented into leaky wave antennas, new type of traveling wave resonators, and resonant-type beam-steering antennas.
