Self-similar group actions (or self-similar groups) have proved to be interesting mathematical objects from the point of view of group theory and from the point of view of many other fields of mathematics (operator algebras, holomorphic dynamics, automata theory, etc). See the works [BGN02, GNS00, Gri00, Sid98, BG00, Nek02a], where different aspects of self-similar groups are studied. An import...

In this paper we review the definition of the monodromy of an angle valued map based on linear relations as proposed in [3]. This definition provides an alternative treatment of the Jordan cells, topological persistence invariants of a circle valued maps introduced in [2]. We give a new proof that homotopic angle valued maps have the same monodromy, hence the same Jordan cells, and we show that...

A generalization of Arnold’s strange duality to invertible polynomials in three variables by the first author and A. Takahashi includes the following relation. For some invertible polynomials f the Saito dual of the reduced monodromy zeta function of f coincides with a formal “root” of the reduced monodromy zeta function of its Berglund– Hübsch transpose f . Here we give a geometric interpretat...

This paper shows that an integrable approximation of the spring pendulum, when tuned to be in 1 : 1 : 2 resonance, has monodromy. The stepwise precession angle of the swing plane of the resonant spring pendulum is shown to be a rotation number of the integrable approximation. Due to the monodromy, this rotation number is not a globally defined function of the integrals. In fact at lowest order ...

The monodromy operator of a linear delay differential equation with periodic coefficients is formulated as an integral operator. The kernel of this operator includes a factor formed from the fundamental solution of the linear delay differential equation. Although the properties of the fundamental solutions are known, in general there is no closed form for the fundamental solution. This paper de...

A Riemann-Hilbert problem for a q-difference Painlevé equation, known as $$q{\text {P}}_{{\text {IV}}}$$ , is shown to be solvable. This yields bijective correspondence between the transcendental solutions of and corresponding data on an associated q-monodromy surface. We also construct moduli space explicitly.

After recalling what is the Markoff theory, the article summarizes some links which exist with the group GL(2,Z) of 2 × 2 matrices with integer coefficients and determinant ±1 and with its subgroups SL(2,Z) and the triangle group T3. Then we visit rapidly the links with conformal punctured toruses. The main part of the article is about the monodromy representation of the Poincaré group of such ...

For a standard path of connections going to a generic point at infinity in the moduli spaceMDR of connections on a compact Riemann surface, we show that the Laplace transform of the family of monodromy matrices has an analytic continuation with locally finite branching. In particular the convex subset representing the exponential growth rate of the monodromy is a polygon, whose vertices are in ...
