In this paper, we present a trust region method for unconstrained optimization problems with locally Lipschitz functions. For this idea, at first, a smoothing conic model sub-problem is introduced for the objective function, by the approximation of steepest descent method. Next, for solving the conic sub-problem, we presented the modified convenient curvilinear search method and equipped it wit...
Let L1 be the set of all mappings f : Zp → Zp of the space of all p-adic integers Zp into itself that satisfy Lipschitz condition with a constant 1. We prove that the mapping f ∈L1 is ergodic with respect to the normalized Haar measure on Zp if and only if f induces a single cycle permutation on each residue ring Z/pZ modulo p, for all k = 1,2,3, . . .. The multivariate case, as well as measure...
In this paper we characterise, in terms of the upper Dini derivative, when the Clarke subdiierential mapping of a real-valued locally Lipschitz function is a minimal weak cusco. We then use this characterisation to deduce some new results concerning Lips-chitz functions with minimal subdiierential mappings. In the papers 7] and 1], the authors investigate a class of locally Lipschitz functions ...
Sensitivity analysis provides useful information for equation-solving, optimization, and post-optimality analysis. However, obtaining useful sensitivity information for systems with nonsmooth dynamic systems embedded is a challenging task. In this article, for any locally Lipschitz continuous mapping between finitedimensional Euclidean spaces, Nesterov’s lexicographic derivatives are shown to b...
We prove that any 2-dimensional solution ψ ∈ W 1+ 1 3,3 loc of the eikonal equation has locally Lipschitz gradient ∇ψ except at a locally finite number of vortex-points. A related regularizing effect is also obtained for general solutions of the Burgers’ equation. In this paper we prove the existence of solutions to the following third order differential inclusion: x(3)(t) ∈ F (t, x(t), ẋ(t), ẍ(t)) + G(x(t), ẋ(t), ẍ(t)), a.e. on [0, T ] x(0) = x0, ẋ(0) = u0, ẍ(0) = v0, and ẍ(t) ∈ S,∀t ∈ [0, T ], where F : [0, T ]×H×H×H → H is a continuous set-valued mapping, G : H× H × H → H is an upper semi-continuous set-valued mapping with G(x, y, z) ⊂ ∂g(z) where g...
We study the relationships between Gateaux, Weak Hadamard and Fréchet differentiability and their bornologies for Lipschitz and for convex functions. AMS Subject Classification. Primary: 46A17, 46G05, 58C20. Secondary: 46B20.
This note continues the study initiated in 2006 by P.L. Papini, R. R. Phelps and the author on some classical notions from finite-dimensional convex geometry in spaces of continuous functions. Let H be the family of all closed, convex and bounded subsets of a Banach space endowed with the Hausdorff metric. A completion of A ∈ H is a diametrically maximal set D ∈ H satisfying A ⊂ D and diamA = d...
Motivated by problems arising in decentralized control problems and non-cooperative Nash games, we consider a class of strongly monotone Cartesian variational inequality (VI) problems, where the mappings either contain expectations or their evaluations are corrupted by error. Such complications are captured under the umbrella of Cartesian stochastic variational inequality problems and we consid...
We prove that every Lipschitz function from a subset of a locally compact length space to a metric tree has a unique absolutely minimal Lipschitz extension (AMLE). We relate these extensions to a stochastic game called Politics — a generalization of a game called Tug of War that has been used in [42] to study real-valued AMLEs.
