We study the problem of urban areas detection from satellite images. In particular, we consider two types of satellite images: SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images and optical images. We describe a simple algorithm for the detection of urban areas. We show that the performance of the detection algorithm can be improved using a fusion procedure of the SAR and optical images considered. The fusi...

Ecosystems provide a wide variety of useful resources that enhance human welfare, but these resources are declining due to climate change and anthropogenic pressure. In this work, three vulnerable ecosystems, including shrublands, coastal areas with dunes systems and areas of shallow water, are studied. As far as these resources' reduction is concerned, remote sensing and image processing techn...

Local image histograms provide valuable descriptors of the behavior of an image around a given pixel. Rather than bucketing intensity values for all the pixels in an image, local histograms are defined separately for each pixel and represent the distribution of nearby intensities. Several image filters, including the median, mean-shift, and bilateral, can be described and computed using these h...

For a group G with G-conjugacy class of involutions X, the local fusion graph F(G,X) has X as its vertex set, with distinct vertices x and y joined by an edge if, and only if, the product xy has odd order. Here we show that, with only three possible exceptions, for all pairs (G,X) with G a sporadic simple group or the automorphism group of a sporadic simple group, F(G,X) has diameter 2.

In this paper, we present a general variational method for image fusion. In particular, we combine different images of the same subject to a single composite that offers optimal exposedness, saturation, and local contrast. Previous research approaches this task by first precomputing application specific weights based on the input, and then combining these weights with the images to the final co...

We reconsider the earlier found solutions of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) equations describing correlators based on the admissible representations of A (1) 1 . Exploiting a symmetry of the KZ equations we show that the original infinite sums representing the 4-point chiral correlators can be effectively summed up. Using these simplified expressions with proper choices of the contours we dete...

For a group G, π a set of odd positive integers and X a set of involutions of G we define a graph Fπ(G,X). This graph, called a π-local fusion graph, has vertex set X with x, y ∈ X joined by an edge provided x 6= y and the order of xy is in π. In this paper we investigate Fπ(G,X) when G is a finite symmetric group for various choices of X and π.

Image fusion systems aim at transferring ‘interesting’ information from the input sensor images to the fused image. The common assumption for most fusion approaches is the existence of a highquality reference image signal for all image parts in all input sensor images. In the case that there are common degraded areas in at least one of the input images, the fusion algorithms cannot improve the ...

This paper describes an agricultural vehicle modified to serve as a research platform for agricultural engineering. A tractor was equipped with a global positioning receiver, inertial/GPS system, geomagnetic direction sensor, and a monochrome camera for local and global sensing. For steering control, the tractor was equipped with an electro-hydraulic proportional steering valve, PWM coil valve ...
