Recently structural equation modeling software packages have implemented more accurate statistical methodology for analyzing complex survey data. The computational algorithms however vary across the packages and produce different results even for simple models. In this note we conduct simulation studies to compare the performance of the methods implemented in Mplus and LISREL. The Mplus algorit...

The authors developed the Smoking Attitudes Scale (SAS) and administered it to 2 samples of U.S. students who were smokers or nonsmokers. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis with LISREL (K. G. Jöreskog & D. Sörbom, 1989) methodology revealed that the SAS consists of 4 factors. The overall instrument possesses good internal consistency and adequate construct validity as well.

Researchers often compare groups of individuals on psychological variables. When comparing groups an assumption is made that the instrument measures the same psychological construct in all groups. If this assumption holds, the comparisons are valid and differences/similarities between groups can be meaningfully interpreted. If this assumption does not hold, comparisons and interpretations are n...

The systems approach is a means of studying the properties of things in relation, not just to their components, but also to the ways in which the components interact, both with each other and with their environment. Within this approach, the task of ascertaining causal linkages existing among the variables in soft systems (as against hard systems) is more complex as these are often messy and th...

Information commitments’ include both a set of evaluative standards that Web users utilize to assess the accuracy and usefulness of information in Web-based learning environments (implicit component), and the information searching strategies that Web users use on the Internet (explicit component). An ‘Information Commitment Survey’ (ICS), consisting of aforementioned components, was developed. ...

The author aims at studying the influence of comments and recommendation on online shopping behaviours. With 285 study subjects, the author used experimental research design to study comments and recommendation system on online shopping experience, online shopping satisfaction, online shopping intention and items chosen. The data is analyzed by SPSS 15.0 and LISREL 8.8. The results show that co...

Difficulties in defining and understanding the antecedents and consequences of e-government service quality have stymied the design of efficacious e-government websites. This study thus presents a working definition of e-government service quality that bridges the gap between MIS and marketing literatures. We then explore the delineation between service content and delivery quality as potential...

In this paper, we respond to a 1992 study by Mathias and Nettelbeck in which, using exploratory factor analysis, they argued that the structure of intelligence in persons with mental retardation deviates from the model previously proposed by Greenspan. Applying the LISREL method of confirmatory factor analysis to Mathias and Nettelbeck's original correlation matrix, we found the Greenspan model...
