The title compound, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(8)H(13)N)]Br, is isotypic with the analogous chloride compound. The Fe-C bond lengths are in the range 2.020 (6)-2.048 (7) Å. In the crystal, the cations and bromide anions are connected by N(+)-H⋯Br(-) hydrogen bonds.

Red transparant platelet-shaped single crystals of tetra-barium gallium trinitride oxide, Ba4GaN3O, were synthesized by the Na flux method. The crystal structure is isotypic with Sr4GaN3O, containing isolated triangular [GaN3](6-) anionic groups. O(2-) atoms are inserted between the slabs of [Ba4GaN3](2+), in which the [GaN3](6-) groups are surrounded by Ba(2+) atoms.

Rubidium metaborate, Rb3B3O6, was obtained by the reaction of Rb2CO3 and BN using a radiofrequency furnace at a maximum reaction temperature of 1173 K. The crystal structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The space group is R3c, with all atoms positioned on a twofold axis (Wyckoff site 18e). The ionic compound is isotypic with Na3B3O6, K3B3O6 and Cs3B3O6.

We give a formula for the character of the representation of the Weyl group Sn on each isotypic component of the cohomology of the set of regular elements of a maximal torus of SLn, with respect to the action of the centre. As a consequence, we find that this representation is induced from a cohomology representation of a wreath product subgroup.

BaCo(2)Sn(4)O(11) is isotypic with R-ferrite, BaTi(2)Fe(4)O(11). The Co atoms fully occupy trigonal-bipyramidal sites () and are disordered with Sn atoms in octa-hedral sites (.2/m symmetry), as represented in the formula BaCoSn(2)(Co(0.34)Sn(0.66))(4)O(11). Ba atoms are situated in a 12-fold coordinated site ( symmetry).
