Ve showed earlier [101 that the region of the bla promoter of Tn3 protected by the RHA-polymerase (REAP), has the normal size (about 60bp) at RJAP/promoter molar ratio r(2, but rises to about twice this extent as r increases. Ve confirm here that the species corresponding to normal and extended footprint distinguish by their electrophoretic mobilities. Furtheraore, inspection of the complexes b...

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most prevalent causes of gastroenteritis worldwide. Knowing the precise boundary for the growth/no growth interface of S. aureus and also determining the period of time needed for bacterial growth initiation is necessary for food safety risk assessment. This study was designed to examine the combined effects of temperature, acetic acid, inoculum level and NaC...

The effect of paromomycin on the interaction of ribosomal subunits was studied. Paromomycin inhibited the antiassociation activity of initiation factor 3 (IF3). Furthermore, ribosomal subunits were associated to form 70S ribosomes by paromomycin even in the presence of 1 mM Mg(2+). Paromomycin did not inhibit the binding of IF3 to the 30S ribosomal subunits. On the other hand, IF3 bound to the ...

The role of p220 in the initiation of translation still remains obscure but previous studies on this polypeptide showed that it is necessary for eff...

The DNA in the transcriptionally active macronucleus of the hypotrichous ciliate Euplotes crassus exists as short, linear molecules with each molecule encoding a single genetic function. Previous work has indicated that coding regions occupy the majority of macronuclear DNA molecules. In the present study we have defined the transcription initiation sites and poly(A) addition sites for a number...
