Mandibular coronoid aplasia is defined as the absence of process and hypoplasia defective or underdeveloped process. Hypoplasia mandibular condyle means that smaller than normal. Both these situations are very rare in literature. In literature, condylar usually associated with hyperplasia seen together. Excessive posterior translation of the residual clavicle after distal clavicle resection can be associated with significant postoperative pain. Although the acromioclavicular capsule has been identified as the primary restraint to translation of the clavicle along this axis, the individual contributions of the anterior, posterior, superior, and inferior components of the capsular ligament have ...

INTRODUCTION Injuries to the medial clavicle in pediatric patients typically involve the physis and/or sternoclavicular joint. Clavicle fractures are one of the most common injuries in children, but ones at its medial end are rare. Most medial clavicle fractures are treated nonoperatively, but surgery is indicated in some cases. This original case report is unique in describing the use of an el...

Arterial thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a rare vascular abnormality. Its common cause is a cervical rib but it is seldom detected secondary to trauma of the clavicle, particularly in association with surgical repair of a fractured clavicle. An athletic 45-year-old man developed a recurrent ischaemic upper limb after repair to a non-union fractured clavicle. He underwent multiple separate pro...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the prevalence of clavicle fractures in professional and amateur cyclists and evaluate the factors associated with its occurrence. METHOD One hundred and forty professional and amateur athletes were interviewed through a questionnaire regarding age and time practicing bicycling, among others. RESULTS Among the 140 evaluated cyclists, there were 19 (13.5%) clavicle frac...

Paediatric clavicle fractures have traditionally been treated nonoperatively. Recent studies have recommended operative management for displaced midshaft fractures. We conducted a retrospective review of all clavicle fractures in children aged one to sixteen over a two-year period. We classified fractures and evaluated followup and clinical outcome. We identified 190 fractures. There were 135 b...

The author reports the case of a 30-year-old female patient with bilateral atrophic non-union of the clavicle; the latter both healed after internal fixation with a locking compression plate fixed on the anteroinferior aspect of the clavicle, combined with autologous cancellous bone grafting. The advantages of the anteroinferior positioning of the plate on the clavicle are presented.

Clavicle fractures are common, and most are isolated injuries. Injury to the nearby subclavian vessels and brachial plexus have classically been described as potential complications of clavicle fractures. However, in the setting of a substantially displaced clavicle fracture, concomitant thoracic trauma is relatively frequent. Injury to the thorax can be difficult to identify on physical examin...

INTRODUCTION Bipolar dislocation of the clavicle, also called bifocal or pan-articular dislocation or floating clavicle, is an uncommon traumatic injury. The injury of this case is also concomitant with distal third clavicle and coracoid fracture. This article aimed to report the experience of performing osteosynthesis and early soft tissue reconstruction on these injuries. CASE REPORT We rep...

BACKGROUND The biomechanical characteristics of midshaft clavicular fractures treated with titanium elastic nail (TEN) is unclear. This study aimed to present a biomechanical finite element analysis of biomechanical characteristics involved in TEN fixation and reconstruction plate fixation for midshaft clavicular fractures. METHODS Finite element models of the intact clavicle and of midshaft ...
