Motivated by both Shapiro's embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) coding and Taubman's layered zero coding (LZC) approaches, we propose an embedded DCT still image compression scheme in this work. The new method generates a single embedded bit stream for DCT coe cients according to their importance.
