We describe a 63-year-old male who presented with progressive exertional dyspnea, post-obstructive pneumonia and chest CT findings of an endobronchial lesion. Bronchoscopy revealed an endobronchial lipoma, which was resected using snare electrocautery. Complete resolution of the patient's symptoms was noted following bronchoscopic resection.

A 43-year-old man with symptomatic hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) was admitted to our hospital with aggravated exertional dyspnea and successfully treated with robotic transmitral septal myectomy. Minimally invasive transmitral septal myectomy may be a feasible surgical option for the treatment of HOCM in selected cases as an alternative to transaortic myectomy.

INTRODUCTION Each year, the US Antarctic Program rapidly transports scientists and support personnel from sea level (SL) to the South Pole (SP, 2835 m) providing a unique natural laboratory to quantify the incidence of acute mountain sickness (AMS), patterns of altitude related symptoms and the field effectiveness of acetazolamide in a highly controlled setting. We hypothesized that the combina...

A patient presenting with a history of palpitation and exertional dyspnea was initially diagnosed with two separate secundum-type atrial septal defects by transesophageal echocardiography. Subsequent transesophageal echocardiography, after failure of closure with two separate closure devices, showed another defect and an ongoing left to right shunt. During surgery, more defects were observed. T...

Pulmonary and cardiocirculatoiy function were studied in 21 ambulatory patients with rheumatic heart disease. A pattern of pulmonary function was observed which deviated from normal to a degree insufficient to account for the exertional dyspnea of these patients. The pathogenesis of this symptom is, therefore, discussed in relation to the observed cardiocirculatory abnormalities which were ofte...

Symptomatic radiation pneumonitis (RP) following radiation therapy (RT) to the breast alone is very uncommon. We report a case of an 80-year-old female who presented with fatigue, exertional dyspnea, fever, and cough 11.5 weeks following adjuvant breast RT with tangent fields alone. Imaging was consistent with RP, and she responded to a tapering course of steroids.

We present the case of a 68-year-old female patient with exertional dyspnea, mild pretibial oedema and echocardiographically verified enlarged left atrium, but preserved ventricular systolic function normal filling pressures at rest. NT-proBNP values were within reference values. The diastolic stress echocardiographic test confirms presence heart failure ejection fraction (HFpEF). This report r...
