Systemic EBV+ T cell lymphoma of childhood manifests as a rapidly progressive, life-threatening disorder with fulminant clinical course. Of obscure aetiology, systemic may arise in concurrence primary Epstein Barr viral infection wherein infiltrating lymphocytes demonstrate monoclonal rearrangements within receptor (TCR) genes. delineates virus infected cytotoxic CD8+ or activated CD4+ cells an...
When Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) negative cells (Raji) were treated with iododeoxyuridine, only the early antigen (EA) component was induced. There was no significant increase in EBV DNA and no virus particles were observed. Somatic-cell hybrids were prepared from the fusion of Raji and D98 cells (D98/Raji). When these cells were treated with iododeoxyuridine, early antigen EBV DNA, and virus part...

Transfection of an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-encoded plasmid containing EBER caused a substantial decrease in the level of plasmid containing EBV in Akata and Mutu Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) lines, but failed to do so in other BL lines. The results suggest that EBER could replace the role of EBV, but other EBV products also play a role in the growth of BL.
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1)--the one EBV antigen that is expressed in all EBV-associated malignancies--has long been thought to go undetected by the cell-mediated immune system. However, recent studies show that EBNA1 can be presented to both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, making it a potential new target for immunotherapy of EBV-related cancers.

Chronic active Epstein-Barr virus (CAEBV) infection is characterized by persistent infectious mononucleosis-like symptoms, an unusual pattern of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antibodies, detection of the EBV genome in affected tissues or peripheral blood, and chronic illness that cannot be attributed to any other known disease. This is the first reported Korean case of an immunocompetent adult with ...
Background and purpose: Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women and early diagnosis of this cancer is a key element for successful treatment. Breast cancer is a multistep disease in which a virus can play a role. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is identified as an important factor in human cancer. This study investigated the relationship between EBV and breast cancer. Materials ...
Several diseases are associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and they can be life-threatening, especially in immunocompromised individuals. Moreover, there no well-established EBV prevention control strategies Nigeria. Therefore, this study was carried out to assess the prevalence of (EBNA) IgM antibody among Public Health Workers Port-Harcourt, A cross-sectional survey adopted randomly analyz...
OBJECTIVE Clarify the frequency and the pathophysiological mechanisms of the rare manifestations of Epstein-Barr virus infection. SOURCES Original research studies published in English between 1985 and 2015 were selected through a computer-assisted literature search (PubMed and Scopus). Computer searches used combinations of key words relating to "EBV infections" and "atypical manifestation."...
