A combined theoretical and experimental approach demonstrates that nanocluster embedment into the pores of metal-organic frameworks (MOF) may be influenced by the chemical functionalisation of the MOF. Furthermore, this results in the surface functionalisation of the embedded nanoclusters, highlighting the potential of MOF scaffolds for the design and synthesis of novel functional materials.

This paper presents the bearing capacity determination of strip footing placed on sand underlain by clay and subjected to inclined loading. The equation is derived within framework limit equilibrium following projected area approach. inclinations load spread were selected performing an additional finite element analysis. A parametric study was conducted highlight effect various input parameters...

Abstract One of the most critical engineering problems that occur in foundations machines resting on soil is problem transmission vibration from machine to foundation and then soil. This leads increased stresses layers settlement as well. In this article, an experimental model a rotary located gypseous sandy (36% gypsum content) has been studied. The weight with was 26 kPa subjected 10 Hz frequ...

physical modeling for study of deep foundations can be performed in simple chambers (1g), calibration chambers (cc), and centrifuge apparatus (ng). these common apparatus face certain limitations and difficulties. recently, frustum confining vessels (fcv) have been evolved for physical modeling of deep foundations and penetrometers. shaped as the frustum of a cone, this device applies steady pr...

Expansive soils are recognized by their swelling potential upon wetting due to the existence of some clay minerals such as montmorillonite. An effective solution was found avoid danger using piles. A single pile embedded in an elasto-plastic expansive soil has been analyzed one available software which is ABAQUS investigate effect applied loads on pile’s top and load carrying capacity pile. The...

The consequences to structures caused by permanent fault displacement have been investigated for dip-slip faulting, but not the effect of embedment depth on interaction between a normal rupture and shallow embedded foundation. This study foundation using numerical model validated with centrifuge experiments. It was found that gapping mechanism distress occurred at different positions relative o...

In our laboratory, human temporal bone specimens from patients who in life have undergone cochlear implantation are routinely processed with the implant in situ, embedded in Araldite, sectioned at 20 µm and serially photographed during cutting, stained with toluidine blue and mounted on glass slides. From the images, two-dimensional and three-dimensional reconstructions can be made and a very a...
