The first elemental cluster with hexacapped trigonal bipyramidal geometry is revealed in the luminescent undecanuclear silver complex which is stabilized by nine dithiocarbamate ligands and has an interstitial hydride. The hydride position within the Ag(11) cage is confirmed by a DFT investigation.

Aging is associated with NF-κB-dependent pro-inflammation. Here we demonstrated that inhibition of NF-κB with pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate increases the median lifespan (13-20%) and the age of 90% mortality (11-14%) in Drosophila melanogaster females and males, respectively.

Starting with metal dithiocarbamate complexes, we synthesize colloidal Cu(2)ZnSnS(4) (CZTS) nanocrystals with diameters ranging from 2 to 7 nm. Structural and Raman scattering data confirm that CZTS is obtained rather than other possible material phases. The optical absorption spectra of nanocrystals with diameters less than 3 nm show a shift to higher energy due to quantum confinement.
