An efficient and stereoselective catalytic system for the Heck cross coupling reaction using novel 1,3-dialkyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidinium salts (1, LHX) and Pd(OAc)2 loading has been reported. The palladium complexes derived from the salts 1a-f prepared in situ exhibit good catalytic activity in the Heck coupling reaction of aryl bromides under mild conditions.

Dialkyl 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethylpyridine-3,5-dicarboxylates have been prepared in a batch mode under conventional heating as well as under continuous flow conditions in the Miniflow 200SS, Sairem's microwave-assisted batch and continuous flow equipment. Real-time monitoring of the reactions by Raman spectroscopy enabled to compare both heating modes and to determine (optimized) reaction times.

A third strategy for cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction has been reported via platinum-catalyzed sp(3) C-H and sp(3) C-H coupling reaction in the absence of oxidant. Nitroalkanes as well as dialkyl malonate derivatives, beta-keto esters and malononitrile are active participants in this coupling reaction. Both cyclic and acyclic non-activated simple ketones are good reactants in this reaction.

The new dialkyl(aryl) lithium zincates [(THF)(2)Li(C(6)H(4)-OMe)MeZnMe] (4), [(TMEDA)Li(C(6)H(4)-OMe)MeZnMe] (6), [(THF)(3)Li(C(6)H(4)-OMe)(t)BuZn(t)Bu] (7), and [(PMDETA)Li(C(6)H(4)-OMe)(t)BuZn(t)Bu] (8) have been prepared by co-complexation reactions of lithiated anisole with the relevant dialkylzinc compound and the relevant Lewis base. These new heterobimetallic compounds have been characte...

The reaction of stoichiometric amounts of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates with alkyl isocyanides and 5,5-diaryl thiohydantoins in toluene and catalytic amount of p-TSA afforded imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]thiazines in good overall yields
