A method of zonal centrifugation was developed which separates rat thoracic duct lymphocytes (TDL) mainly according to size. The validity of the fractionation method was supported by light microscope observations, Coulter Counter sizing, and in vivo and in vitro labeling of lymphocytes. The distributions of lysosomal acid hydrolases in TDL fractionated by zonal centrifugation are similar to the...

We propose a diagonal metric selection for variable metric proximal gradient method (VMPG). The proposed metric better captures the local geometry of the problem and provides improved convergence compared to the standard proximal gradient (PG) methods with Barzilai-Borwein (BB) stepsize selection. Further, we provide convergence guarantees for the proposed method and illustrate its advantages o...

A method was developed to obtain purified cryptosporidium oocysts from fecal samples. Oocysts were initially collected by centrifugation through a sucrose density gradient and further purified by passage through glass bead columns. The purified oocysts were antigenically active and sufficiently pure for immunological studies.

Microbodies, designated as peroxisomes because of their enzyme complement, have been isolated from spinach leaves. After grinding leaves in 0.5 M sucrose, the peroxisomes were removed with the broken chloroplast fraction by differential centrifugation. During sucrose density gradient centrifugation, the peroxisomes banded in about 1.9 M sucrose and were separated from mitochondria and chloropla...
