Erythema nodosum (EN) is a delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction that most often presents as erythematous, tender nodules on the shins. Common triggers for EN include infection, drugs, pregnancy, malignancy, and inflammatory conditions, such sarcoidosis or gastrointestinal diseases; however, many cases are idiopathic. We present clinical case of 12 y.o girl with associated EBV.

Selected L3T4- and Lyt 2- T-cell subpopulations from Listeria monocytogenes-infected mice were transferred into syngenic recipients, and their capacity to adoptively mediate protection against L. monocytogenes and delayed-type hypersensitivity to listerial antigens was determined. Both functions were markedly reduced by pretreatment of cells with either anti-L3T4 or anti-Lyt 2.2 antibodies plus...

In Siberian hamsters and other photoperiodic rodents, exposure to short photoperiods simultaneously inhibits gonadal hormone secretion and enhances some measures of immune function. The present study tested whether gonadal hormones mediate the effects of short days on skin immune function (delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions) in male Siberian hamsters. The magnitude of delayed-type hypersen...

Clopidogrel is a new antiplatelet prescribed for the secondary prevention of atherosclerotic events. The literature shows that the clinical manifestations of clopidogrel hypersensitivity include urticaria1, skin rash2-4, and angioedema5. The precise immunological mechanism underlying clopidogrel hypersensitivity has not been established. We describe two cases of hypersensitivity reaction due to...

The pure delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction obtained in 4-day ovalbumin-sensitized mice after antigen challenge in the footpad was abrogated by transfer of in vitro expanded, antigen-specific lymphoblasts derived from ovalbumin-hyperimmunized donors (high antibody producers), 12 h before immunization. This effect was specific inasmuch as Trypanosoma cruzi-specific blasts derived from Tc-Ag-...
