Nanometer size-selected Cu clusters in the size range of 1-5 nm have been produced by a plasma-gas-condensation-type cluster deposition apparatus, which combines a grow-discharge sputtering with an inert gas condensation technique. With this method, by controlling the experimental conditions, it was possible to produce nanoparticles with a strict control in size. The structure and size of Cu na...

In this study, the mesoporous silica SBA-15 materials containing carboxylic acid groups were used as an effective support to synthesize Cu nanoparticles. Various Cu loading levels from 4% to 13% on SBA-15 catalysts produced an average particle size of 2.8 to 3.1 nm, regardless of the Cu content.

A facile, economic and eco-friendly colorimetric sensor for Cu(2+) using dopamine/silver nanoparticles was developed. The sensor shows excellent sensitivity and selectivity toward Cu(2+) in the range of 3.2-512 ppb and can be applied for Cu(2+) detection in tap water.

here we present our experimental results in synthesizing au-cu nano-particles with tunable localized surface plasmon resonance frequency through wet-chemical at temperature room. the reaction is performed in the presence of ascorbic acid as a reducing agent and polyvinyl pyrrolidone as capping agent via four different procedures: (1) mixture of 90% haucl4 and 10% cuso4.5h2o precursors, (2) mixt...

A simple and highly efficient protocol using magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MMSNPs) with metal affinity ligands was developed to directly capture laccase from Trametes versicolor fermentation broth. The Cu(2+)-chelated magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MMSNPs-Cu(2+)) with pore sizes ranging from 3.6 to 27.1 nm exhibited size selectivity on laccase capture from the fermentatio...

Energetic heavy and light ion effects on gold nanoparticles were probed by irradiating 20 and 60 nm diameter nanoparticles with either 3 MeV Cu(3+) or 10 keV He(+) ions in situ inside of a transmission electron microscope. Both ion species caused sintering, agglomeration, and ablation of the nanoparticles via sputtering, although at different rates.

Magnetic and fluorescent hydroxyapatite nanoparticles were synthesised using Al(OH)3-stabilised MnFe2O4 or Fe3O4 nanoparticles as precursors. They were readily and efficiently radiolabelled with (18)F. Bisphosphonate polyethylene glycol polymers were utilised to endow the nanoparticles with excellent colloidal stability in water and to incorporate cyclam for high affinity labelling with (64)Cu.

Agarose, a naturally occurring biopolymer is used for the stabilization of metal, semiconductor nanoparticles. Ag and Cu nanoparticles stabilized in agarose matrix show excellent antibacterial activity against E. coli bacteria. The well dispersed metal nanoparticles within the agarose composite films can be readily converted to carbon–metal composites of catalytic importance.

In the field of nanomedicine, long term accumulation of nanoparticles (NPs) in the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) such as liver is the major hurdle in clinical translation. On the other hand, NPs could be excreted via hepatobiliary excretion pathway without overt tissue toxicity. Therefore, it is critical to develop NPs that show favorable excretion property. Herein, we demonstrated that mi...

Applying wide-angle X-ray scattering method, thermomechanical analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry, the structural organization and properties of nanocomposites formed by chemical reduction of Сu(2+) cations in the interpolyelectrolyte-metal complex (pectin-Cu(2+)-polyethyleneimine) under the influence of a constant magnetic and electric fields have been studied. It has been found th...
